I say Trade. Come on… If you are the Nets you look for the best deal available. You're not going to get player for player the best deal. What the Knicks would have to do if Nets even bother to entertain this offer from cross-town rivals is ALL of Knicks draft picks. OBI and RJ Barret. That's something the Nets would be requesting. The Knicks aren't just going to give up the draft picks. To be able to get Durant from Nets they would have to overpay.
The Nets would have to be willing to blow up the team. I don't think the Nets are going to do any of this. They are going to hold on to Irving– see what happens if they make a run. If they make a run to the finals or win it all- then both sides have a reason to make it work.
