i think youāre being super harsh on brooklyn icl. i get the risk completely but i think itās the only way that dallas gets a legit star along luka.
I totally agree you have no idea what is going to happen within the next few months, what is Dallas going to do if Kyrie and Luka wind up being the next Shaq & Kobe?
All these YouTube "analysts " calling DFS one of the better 3 and D guys hasn't watched a single minute of Mavs basketball this year. He had a a good 2 months LAST year and that's it for his entire career. The dude has been pathetic this year and years past. Whatever. Dinwiddie is OK, but not a starting PG in the league, just wait and watch. This is a lose-lose trade bc Luka and Kyrie will fight for the ball bc neither know how to play without it.
Houston still won this trade. Houston owns Brooklyn's picks for the next half of decade. Brooklyn has no strict control of their future and can't bank on KD and building around KD especially just after KD requested a trade this previous off season. Imo Dallas & Houston won this trade.
I think there was a lot of factors you missed on why this was a good trade for the Mavs. Yes, Kyrie is known for being unreliable. But he has a personal relationship with the GM Nico Harrison and Jason Kidd. The only person Kyrie has played with thatās similar to Luka is Lebronā¦ and they won together. Also, if Kyrie does not end up staying, Mavs have a LOT of cap space to make moves in the summer. Mavs also said theyāre not done trading yet. I can see them trading Christian Wood for someone with rebounding and defense.
Why would they go after someone who is a true PG ball-dominant player? Makes absolutely no sense to me. They already tried that with Dinwiddie (and Brunson), what they actually need is better off the ball players and forwards. OG or Siakam for example. All Kyrie is gonna do is take away from Luka's touches. I don't think it's gonna improve the team like everyone thinks. They shoulda got a 3&D type of player, a true dominant Center.
I think most of tha white guys in tha media think tha same way u think about Kyrie. I think Kyrie has alot 2 prove & I'm he's lookn 2 silence his critix. I agree that Dallas gave up 2 much, mayb jus Dinwiddie & uh young player like Green but, they needed 2 Luka sum help. With nobuddy lookn stong in tha West, this'll do 4 now. We'll c what other movements there r & how it's lookn Feb 9th….āš½šā¤š
This is a great trade for for Dallas. Lukas youth and creativity I think will mesh well with Kyrie. the Mavericks honestly have the two most creative players in the game now. Kyrie, THJ, Luka, Wood, Powell, Bertans, Kleber, Bullock, McGee and Morris seems like a team that could easily take them to the finals. Not to mention they held onto Hardy and Green.
Sporting Logically is usually unbiased but I feel a little bias here.
Iāll break it down as a mavs fan. Under Luka we basically had
3 guys getting 16-19 million (all about age 30) locked in for the next 3 years
Bertans Hardaway Dinwiddie
2 Guys getting 11-14 million (all about age 30) locked in for the next year
Finney Maxi
Bullock 10 million (about age 32) locked in the next 2
This was the team for the next 3-4 years. If you think the mavs have limited assets now imagine how much these same 6 assets would be worth over the next 3-4 years averaging a 14.5 million cap hit
Speaking of 14.5 Million thatās what Christian Wood gets paid, who also wants a 4 year deal. Thatās a reason the mavs havenāt been able to commit that long term of a deal to him they donāt want to make it 7 guys getting paid that much
Nico Harrison hasnāt had the flexibility to do much the roster because with both of KP trade debris
Finney and Spencer are quietly role players but we already have too many 19mil and 14 mil guys on our team no offense to them Iām going to miss them but this is at worst a huge salary dump. For Rico to build properly
Kyrie is not ours to lose. He was Brooklyn to lose because they have no cap if he walked, likely lost KD if that happens, Itās a 4 month test drive that allows the mavs to contend. Kyrie is the cherry on top
Said so yourself if it doesnāt work worst case we go sign Dinwiddie and DFS type guys with our max cap space
Would be interesting to see if Dallas now goes after Crowder to replace DFS. Gives Crowder a starting role most likely, which is what he wants, and replaces most of what was lost with this trade.
This guy is a Nets fan. So I don't think he can be completely objective, but I understand his points. The most important point being due to Dallas' limited assets, they had to take a risk in order to get a second star next to Luka. It came in the form of a cantankerous, wish washy guy in Kyrie that requested a trade. This is a W at this point for Dallas and the grade can be adjusted IF, in fact, Kyrie does leave at the end of the season. However, for now, this nothing less than a B and that's low honestly.
I get It, it's a Swing for Dallas, but I can't accept the fact that Brooklyn "Won" the trade, they ain't won shit, they got 1 pick, 2 role player with medium-big contracts, they refused the 2 Picks from the Lakers, they refused Paul+Crowder+pick(s)… Mavs might not win the trade but Brooklyn for sure didn't win the trade
I just can't imagine the Mavs did this trade without at least affirmation from Kyrie that he will re-sign. And I know Kyries words mean basically nothing, but still. IMO this will go one of two ways. Either it will really work and the Mavs take a big W or it will blow up in the Mavs face, especially if Kyrie pulls a Kyrie and doesn't re-sign.

They supposedly lost the Kp for Dinwiddie trade last yr too… How'd that work out
Heās not polarizing what did he really do if that was any other group it wouldnāt of been that big of a deal give my guy a break
If Kyrie plays. Dallas will be GOOD. Heās a major upgrade from Brunson. But asking Kyrie to be dependable is a big ask.
i think youāre being super harsh on brooklyn icl. i get the risk completely but i think itās the only way that dallas gets a legit star along luka.
As long as mavs offer kyrie a max contract I donāt see any reason for him to leave
Kyrie is unbelievably talented but the guy is a complete nut.
He just said like a week ago that he wants to stay in brooklyn for the rest of his career
100% worth it mavs Win the championship
I totally agree you have no idea what is going to happen within the next few months, what is Dallas going to do if Kyrie and Luka wind up being the next Shaq & Kobe?
I thought Ben Simmons was all world on defense? Lol

Nah Mavs fucked up. Fuck.

Both teams will blow up next season I don't see Kyrie and Luka as a long standing duo and KD is probably requesting a trade in the offseason
We should have never sold our soul for porzingus canāt make good moves anymore

If the Mavs get a 3 and D wing before the deadline, this is a HUGE WIN. If they donāt, I just donāt think theyāll have the size to win
There is some video in this salt
What if they win the finals and he leaves
Even if itās kawhi trade 2.0 Iāll take it
no dice roll u gave kyrie disrespect and therefore motivation he never had before…… watch whats comin doncic just lucky recipient
Nets are loaded with very similar role players
Dinwiddie curry Harris
Royce Dorian
Simmons claxron, these are all like the same player as one another š¤Æ
Dude heās in driving range of Alex jones heās staying in Dallas forever
Hope this increases Lukaās chances of winning MVP.
Nets committed absolute high way robbery. Someone should call the FBI and report this crime.
Its a contract year for Irving……. Could kyrie do for the mavs what kawahi did for Toronto ???
maybe thats called bussiness, taking risk, dont know what will happen, lets just sit down n relax and see what will happen next.. xD

But it is a good deal for the nets
I'm happy as Kyrie isn't going to the Lakers. I'm unhappy, because as a Knicks fan that 2023 Mavs pick we own just got a lot worse.
Trade Kyrie now for someone else
What off court habits are you talking about? The man has done nothing wrong. Why do ya'll keep pushing this bs narrative?
lol lol lol
Comon give then time.
Mavericks traded 2 starters for a guy who quit on 3 team's, Cam Thomas let the NETS know yesterday they don't need Kyrie
Luka gone in 3 years for sure
This trade is an even bigger gamble than the kawhi trade , but I think with equal upside upside
Bad trade both Luka and kyrie are to ball dominant players
Kinda surprised they didnāt throw Hardway Jr or Bertans into the deal instead of DFS but thatās the price you gotta pay for Kyrie.
Luka have 4+1 years contract,he is not Ben Simmons and asking out
Would be interesting to see if Dallas now goes after Crowder to replace DFS. Gives Crowder a starting role most likely, which is what he wants, and replaces most of what was lost with this trade.
Kyrie is worth less than DeJounte…
