[Charania] The Lakers offered the Nets a package of Westbrook and two first-round picks in 2027 and 2029.. the Nets informed the Lakers that.. to get in the Irving sweepstakes they would require all of their young players such as Austin Reaves and Max Christie and pick swaps

  1. That is a very steep price and the Lakers just dodged a massive bullet.

  2. dropdatdurkadurk

Yeah if those were unprotected I wouldve done that if BKN over Dal

If the Nets want to compete and you say taking Russ on is a pick by itself. Why not take the role players (who are much better) and pick from the Mavs without the hassle of dealing with Russ

And you have to remember: Lakers would not have had any assurance in terms of contract since Kyrie wants to wait till FA to make a deal.

Imagine trading all that and then him leaving. I can not blame Pelinka for not doing that, thats more than what we traded for a under contract AD who doesn’t have a fraction of the problematic history

  5. claydavisismyhero

they also asked the suns for 3 first rounders lol

  6. jaysmoove42

Wow Nets priced him to the Lakers like my florist priced me for my wedding.

  7. DredgenW

In other words: they weren’t sending Kyrie to the Lakers by any means.

  8. I’d probably spite Kyrie as well but Nets are braver than most thinking KD will want to stay as the sole star.

  9. WhatTheRickIsDoin

“Give us everything and we’ll think about it”

They had no intentions on sending him here

  10. wazdopest

basically get scammed or don’t get Kyrie. this is probably the most contentious owner-player relationship i ever seen lol

  11. noerapenalty

This is probably Lakers leaks to try to save face with Lebron. How else would this narrative turn so dramatically?

  12. FrankBreauxx

Nets settled for a crypto merchant but wanted the Lakers’ entire future???! 😹😹😹

I think Tsai just wanna fuck Kyrie and not trade him to his preferred destination lol.

People really slandering Pelinka? They want both 1st rd picks, pick swaps, and the young players we do have? Lakers would be so fucked going forward if Kyrie just dipped at the end of the season lol.

Is the package better than the other teams? Idk, maybe not. But, it’s crazy that people are questioning not making a deal for all that.

  14. Whit3boy316

Tsai really just wanted to do the Mavs a solid or screw over the Lakers

  15. Shootit_Rockets

The Mavericks offer is just plain better

  16. BigcaketakeLilcake

Don’t know why y’all acting like Dinwiddie’s trash, dudes averaging 18/3/5 with good efficiency on a playoff team. Dude is the best player I heard in all the trade discussions honestly, no surprise they took the Mavs deal. Not like they have incentive to tank because the Rockets own all their picks

  17. left_over_croissant

I didn’t even know the lakers had any young players remaining lol

  18. Right move from LA. Tsai just wanted to send kyrie where he didn’t want to be

  19. wharangbuh

Looks like a /r/BasketballGM/ AI trade counter offer.

  20. LurkerFlash

Are people surprised Nets didn’t want to lose kyrie for two first round picks? If I have KD on my team, I want players that can do a thing or two in the offseason rather than picks.

  21. Duh, of course they didn’t want Westbrook. Did the Lakers front office really think it would be that easy? Entitled much.

  22. this 3 year timeline for the nets is probably the wildest series of events for a franchise, ever. with all the transactions, all the superstar talent; just to be left with ben simmons and spencer dinwiddie. all of that for an ecf run, lmao.
