How the LA Clippers Survived A Near Choke Job in New York

The Los Angeles Clippers played the 5th game of their Grammy Road Trip on Saturday Night against the New York Knicks and it turned out to be one of the most exciting Clipper games of the season. Kawhi Leonard & Paul George were phenomenal for the first 3 quarters but had a repeat of the Bucks game, going cold as the game winded down. Nicolas Batum was the savior with a game tying three as the clock expired at the end of regulation and the Clippers brought it home in Overtime.

In this episode, die hard Clipper fan & Host Darian Vaziri breaks down what made the Overtime thriller a great win and what concerns him going forward. He also makes a bold claim about Norman Powell & reacts to Kyrie Irving being traded to the Dallas Mavericks amidst rumors of the Clippers having made offers for the All-Star.

  1. im curious about only playing 8 guys on a road game like that. made me think a trade might've been cookin behind the scenes. honestly the all-star break can't get here soon enough. this is a team that really needs a moment to get on the same page. i think if we are truly destined for the finals, we'll come out with a focused, killer mentality. otherwise we probably looking at another quick exit…

  2. I think the Clippers are trying to work some deals before the trade deadline that involves Kennard and Covington. It's crazy to me that those guys are not getting regular rotation minutes.

  3. New subscriber. Great pod man. If you are going to go iso with Kawhi n Pg at the end of games it is essential that you use picks to get their worst defenders guarding them. If the team denies the switch or cheats that’ll create the open shots on offense. We are in this predicament because we need a POINT GUARD. We must get a point guard and a big that can switch in pick n roll before the deadline 2 biggest weaknesses

  4. This Clipper front office is constantly missing opportunities and should do whatever it can to sign Kyrie Irving.
The Clippers need to make trades immediately !

  5. The Nets used a very small lineup in their last game. They had 6’4 Royce starting at PF. I think we see Kennard back in the starting 5 tonight because you can’t have Mook chasing Royce on the perimeter.

  6. Kyrie can go to the MAVS, we dont need such a diva! But we need a good PG, and thats Van Fleet. He would fit because he can pass but you can use him also if Kawhi or PG13 gets doubled to hit the 3, consistantly. And we need a big like Hartenstein as a backup for ZuBlocka. I wish John really all the best, but he didnt show really he can do it. He is kinda Westbrook, different and a bit the same. He can play only his style of ball, makin others around him look bad. He needs to change that as soon as possible.

  7. I agree, these are 'better problems' to have [esp. vs being The Comeback Clippers] in being up on the road and having to figure out how to efficiently quell the (nigh-inevitable) run the home team will go on in Q4.
"Yeah, okay we know how to get our boot on their neck – now lets get better at keeping it there!" 👹☠🤖☝

This road trip will define this team in many ways from here out. What (and whether) we learn from it makes a huge difference in preparing how well we can enter and sustain wins thru the post-season. Even the wins (…and hopefully nothing BUT wins) on this trip will require careful analysis during All-Star break, or it's another lost opportunity.

Adversity is inevitable…so get ready, Clips!!!
GIVE NO QUARTER ESPECIALLY THE 4TH !!!

  8. I'm glad we didn't trade away our players. I'm also glad the Lakers didn't end up with Kyrie.
However when the trade was 1st announced, I couldn't help but wonder if they somehow made this deal with some thought to prevent Steve Balmer from getting his way at all costs.

Because if the reports are true, the Clippers were going to offer much more than what the Mavs gave up for Kyrie. Kinda makes you think.

I’ll be at the game on Wednesday vs. the Mavs. Can’t wait!🏀

  9. I love watching you bro great show I’m also a clipper die hard fan and it’s crazy because everything you always say I actually always seem to agree with you we need more minutes from Robert Covington!! And definitely some playing time for Luke he’s not going to miss all of his shots forever and he actually defends not the best but keep it up man I don’t miss none of your shows see you next time LETS GO CLIPPERS

  10. Funny every time I’m watching a game of course the clippers and the things that I see and complain about when I come to watch your show and you always bring up the same things. Love it

  11. Bad news. I think a zombie virus has infected Clippers management. They offered Kennard and Mann plus their first and pick swaps for Kyrie. Glad they failed but the rumor is they are after FVV. The management need drugs to cure their illness. Trading our assets for FVV the midget pie chucker that wants $30m a season is a classic Clippers move. Keep Kennard and Mann and get Rozier for Wall and Reggie and then use Morris and our 2028 for Vanderbilt and Olynik is the move not some greedy inefficient pie chucker. We only have one tradeable pick and they should not waste it on FVV or even worse washed dudes like CP3 and Conley. May as well bring back Rondo and Bledsoe at that point!

  12. I despise Reggie Jackson so much that words can’t explain, Reggie needs to go and I mean now, he’s terrible. Ty needs to be fired and replaced over the all star break, I can’t stand him as well. The flaws of this team is simple, a terribly biased coach that likes to play guys that can’t play defense and massive liabilities. You have Kawhi and PG13 playing D while having to take up the offensive load, that’s a massive undertaking on both guys, so Ofcourse naturally by the time the 4th quarter comes around they are spent. To compound matters, they are not using all their guys, RoCo should be in the line up playing D and taking pressure off PG and kawhi on that front but he’s benched, instead we get Reggie that stands around and ball watch and dribbles a lot which causes untimely turnovers, so now you have PG and Kawhi not only having to defend and score but having to clean up the mess of Reggie and bad coaching. No way Morris and Reggie should still be on the team, but they are, Morris contract is so bad that they prob can’t trade him and for whatever reason Reggie seems to get playing time. Clippers poked their best when Morris was out and Reggie was getting DNPs, but the coach is coaching like Doc, he has his favorites and to hell with winning games. Clippers go no where with such a coach, can only pray he’s gone during the all star break.
