Zach Lowe and Windhorst had a conversation around Ben Simmons.
Do you think Ben Simmons can be justified as a starter when Claxton is playing at such a high level, DFS is a better role player, Royce O’Neal is a better shooter, KD is KD.

I’d be curious to know which contracts that Windy thinks are worse
Sixers absolutely fleeced Brooklyn
can’t blame ben for what happened before we even got him though lol
What happened to him? I remember him being an elite talent despite being an awful shooter. Is it physical or mental?
I feel like bottom 3 is generous. Idk a worse contract, at least Russ contributes every once in a while and more importantly he’s expiring
worst contract for sure, shouldn’t be starting
Top 3 worst contracts?
I can’t think of 2 contracts worse than Simmons.
Nets fans…
Outside of the box score are there times where he showed any flashes or where he’s made a huge impact? I’m starting to think he may be overhated at this point… or is he really this awful?
canned sprite is outrageous
So we just gonna ignore the fact that the harden trade doesn’t happen if kyrie isn’t on his bullshit
The absolute demise of Ben Simmons has to be one of the most shocking things in NBA history
No chance he should start – Dinwiddie/Royce/DFS/KD/Claxton. Simmons does not fit here.
By far the worst contract out there relative to his performance. 2 more years after this season at almost 40m for a triple single statline with not even great defense.
Lost in all of this is the Nets feeling comfortable trading for his contract but not comfortable paying Kyrie
Weird framing.
Ben Simmons obviously wasn’t the reason Harden requested a trade, and I haven’t seen any reporting that he was the reason Kyrie requested a trade.
He’s obviously a terrible contract, but he’s not holding the Nets back from contending. The Nets have been great this year when healthy.
Brooklyn’s net rating this season:
* Durant, no Simmons: +3.0 in 800 minutes
* Durant and Simmons: +10.3 in 602 minutes
The Sixers really dodged a bullet for Ben to sit out last season until he was traded – Brooklyn really thought they had a shot at rehabbing him
Bullshit. Kyrie was always the problem
How can Ben Simmons be the biggest issue if Harden asking out resulted in Simmons arriving? Wouldn’t that imply there were issues before Simmons even arrived?
Simmons isn’t good but let’s not try to attribute all this dysfunction to him.
Simmons probably gonna retire after he gets that money
It’s wild to think there’s an alternate universe where Simmons gets traded to the Kings for Haliburton and the Kings spend another 20 years without a playoff appearance.
The Kings dodging the Simmons bullet is like the episode of How I Met Your Mother were the curse of ‘The Blitz’ gets passed around players, now it left the Kings and belongs to the Nets.
Ben is a case of his draft profile being too accurate, “Motor runs low” & “doesn’t love basketball” (paraphrasing) it’s gonna take a long time for him rework his image around the league
Ben Simmons, Bradley Beal, Duncan Robinson, Bertans.
Westbrook drops off because of his expiring.
“I don’t know.” —Doc Rivers, when asked if Ben Simmons should be shipped to the Shanghai Tigers.
Umm, Simmons ain’t good, but if Kyrie wasn’t such a wreck Harden wouldn’t have asked out. Stop trying to cover for him.
The biggest issue has always been Kyrie.
