Trail Blazers still eyeing trade for Jarred Vanderbilt +Portland Crushed by Giannis, Milwaukee Bucks

The Portland Trail Blazers got thumped by the Milwaukee Bucks on a night where Portland looked too small and not in the same realm as a true title contender.

So let’s talk about trades. Jarred Vanderbilt looks like he is headed to the Trail Blazers and the asking price might not be all that much. That’d be a nice little get for the Blazers.

Does the Kyrie Irving trade rekindle the dream of Kevin Durant to Portland? Not yet. But it might and that’s reason enough to be patient until the offseason with your best trade assests.

  1. Vanderbilt is likely to be traded but not to the blazers!!! Danny ainge ain't gonna trade van for anything less than a first

  2. Defensive issues can be mitigated with better shot selection and ball movement. 25% 3P allowed by the Buck’s D is a model for what to expect in the playoffs- a four-game sweep and a mediocre draft slot.

  3. Blazers need to go get DeMarcus cousins to fill that center role and I also say go get Jae Crowder and LeVert

  4. I would rather see keeping Watford as the starting PF and acquiring Ayton as starting C. Vanderbilt isn’t a good enough improvement over the burgeoning Watford. IMHO.

  5. Instead of Jared Vanderbilt, why not try to trade for Jae Crowder? Some level of defense, wayyyy better at shooting, and has the fire/dog we need on the team. @LockedOnBlazers

  6. Going back to last summer I have a strong feeling they have a handshake deal with Dame to ride out this season and going big this offseason unless some dream person demands a trade this year. But next season might be the make it or break it year for Dame which makes sense since he should be top of most stats for Blazers and could leave being the best Blazer just sans ring. Hope we make smart moves and make him happy cause I’d love to carry the crown down Broadway with him leading the way.

  7. Our first priority shouldn't be getting Jarred Vanderbilt, our first priority should be getting a back up center. Cronion should resign Olivier Sarr and sign him to the main roster. I believe he is currently healthy and is a free agent. I also like Lamar Stevens from the Cavaliers, I would give away GBIII and our 2023 2nd rd pick for him. If you want to make a bigger trade, then we try to get Caris Levert.

As for Josh Hart, had we never signed Gary Payton II, it would only make sense to keep Hart. The GPII signing didn't help us that much, since GPII was injured for most of the year, and it got us hard capped. But since Gary Payton II is part of the roster, yeah it would be beneficial for us to trade Josh Hart. Cronin so far has proven to be an idiot. I don't like Cronin's idea of roster construction, favoring raw players who only have 1-2 years of college experience and hoping they would eventually become skilled players in 2-4 years down the line. I don't mind having raw players on the team like Sharpe, but not 5-7 of them. Because as you can see Chauncey isn't playing them. Chauncey barley plays Keon, Jabari Walker, GBIII, or our two-way players. Watford will sometimes play 20 minutes, but you know damn well Chauncey doesn't like playing him.

  8. How does DeAndre Ayton for Nurkic sound. Also, what is wrong with bringing back Hassan Whiteside or Andre Drummond to come off the bench.

  9. Classic blazers move “get dame help” …. Then goes out and gets a nobody in Vanderbilt

  10. The blazers need a superstar with dame before players like this matter!! Blazers are three years away from being three years away 😂

  11. The whole NBA league be full of BS. Every year we are waiting on string like we are puppet for big things to happen for the trade deadline. And for sure. What does Portland always do. It's most definitely going to be something that's going to have you scratching your head

  12. I won't use the word fleced if Portland sends anyhthing more than Justise Winslow for Jarred Vanderbilt. They are coming up short in the deal.

If Josh Hart gets traded it will be because Portland doesn’t want him to exercise his $12.9 Million Player Option. I would offer Utah Hart for Vanderbilt & Nickeil Alexander-Walker who has a a Team Option which would most likely not get picked up.

Playing around with the Trtade Checker. I think Portland can create cap-space to resign Jerami Grant to a new contract and perhaps be a player in free agency. Even though Portland probably ranks 31st in desirable free agent destinations.

For those of you advocating that Portland uses it's young bench to entice a trade for a "win now" player. The return on investment won't be what you think it will be in the short or long term.

I think Kevin Durant is an outstanding basketball player, but in his 15 years in the NBA. There's nothing to show that he's the driver or the missing peice of a championship team.

  13. If they can get Vanderbilt for less I'm for it. I don't wanna trade too much though. I'm resigned to better trades in the off-season and we might just have a long end to the season. I just hope Chauncey is using this experience to become a better coach.

  14. Javon Carter is really our 3rd string pg, Wes has been ramping up after racking DNPs the first half. Also trying to condition Khris coming back from an injury. Bud has his reasons.

  15. It seemed like every shot Milwaukie shot was wide open for 3's. How do people lose where Brook Lopez is? Dude is like 7'6".

  16. Blazers need a center who doesn't jump alot. Our centers are always hurt. We need that guy who uses good foot work and arms straight up for defense. So we can have a center start and finish a season without an injury. We need a center that doesn't shoot alot of threes. We need rebounds and kick outs. When the center shoots the three he is no where near getting a rebound.

  17. If we trade Shaedon Sharpe it would be like losing out on Jordan all over again! That's how long I have followed the blazers!

  18. I'm thinking that cryptic picture that Dame sent out earlier in the year, maybe he knows if Kyrie left that Durant was going to leave this summer and where he was going to go? Here maybe? 😎

  19. Don't forget Bobby Portis didn't even play . He's 6-11 . Averaging double figures in points and rebounds. Bucks are serious championship contenders .
