  1. BENCH MOB NO LONGER ON THE BENCH ❤️❤️❤️

I like this Jak trade for us. Our roster might look weird now, but that’s where the fun begins…3pm can’t come sooner

  3. Ecstatic-Buy-2907

    What we know

    – FO has no intention of rebuilding, we are looking for a retool

    – If we are able to avoid the luxury tax and resign Jak, this is a very very good deal as we essentially get rid of Khem’s bad contract and a protected 1st for him

What has yet to be figured out

    – FVV GTJ and Jak all are UFA’s next summer, and we don’t have the cap space to sign all 3. Which likely means that Fred is gone, but I could be wrong

    – OG stance probably remains the same, though IMO he gets traded as well because the fit is clunky between OG/Siakam/Scottie, as all 3 like to operate in the post and OG is probably the worst one in that area of his game

Important notice (that nobody is talking about)

    – Getting a starting level C is probably more important than keeping our G’s, because of the 2023 draft class. The class is filled with guards, but outside of Wemby, there really isn’t a center in the top 20 of the draft. Since we are projected to finish around the 5-9 spot in the draft, it would be wise to develop a young guard than to try and agressively trade for a center in the summer, or take a huge risk in landing that 1st overall pick

Thinking on it for a bit, an O.G./Warriors trade could be on the table if they’re desperate?

O.G. for Kuminga, Moody and Donte or Wiseman? Dunno about a draft pick but at least you got rookie scale dudes.

  5. KingInTheFarNorth

Hypothetical question. How many of those First round picks would you want to take on Simmon’s contract?

  6. mariecuree

What does it mean when they say ‘protected’ and ‘unprotected’ draft pick?

  7. RaptorRespecter

With KD and Kyrie in the West Now, and Jaylen Brown having a broken face, all 3 of Harden, Butler, and Siakam gotta be all stars now?

  8. TheOnlySafeCult

Fuck it, let’s sign broadie off waivers. Killing Fred’s knees for the play-in spot ain’t fair.

  9. The_Living_L

Jake Fischer was spitting facts in his live call thing btw that he had during the raptors game, yall gotta stop hating on this man, he even confirmed like an hour or two before the trade happened that the trade would not include Gary and it would most be a salary filler and a pick

If we are still near the play-in next year, questions need to be asked about why we have been trading firsts for win now players as opposed to investing in Scottie’s timeline.

I think having a top pick this year is out of the picture too. At least I hope we end up with some young prospects for depth out of all these. Otherwise our future looks kinda bleak.

  11. Looking over the standings and honestly, I don’t think blowing it up would be the best course of action. The West looks MUCH more scary than the East for the next season or two (this league is crazy though so that could completely change in one off season).

Nuggets are legit, Grizzlies really scary if Ja snaps out of this goofy phase and keeps developing, Mavs scary if Kyrie stays, Suns are pretty much a super team with KD, Clippers are a legit threat if Kawhi goes into the playoffs healthy, Pelicans looked unbeatable earlier in the year before the Zion injury, Warriors just won it all, Lakers are decent with this trade (they won’t win though lol screw the Lakers).

The East has some great teams but is definitely wide open for the foreseeable future, especially with the Nets out of the picture now. Boston is arguably the best team in the league and the Bucks will always be title contenders with Giannis. Philly is solid but proves time and time again they don’t have what it takes for a finals run. Outside of these guys, the East is lacking that star power. If the Raptors can keep building and Scottie becomes that superstar he has the potential to be, I could see them having success in the East.

Not entirely convinced this core has what it takes to compete for a title. However, if the team shows signs of promise you can trade for a true superstar down the road. With this league they’re always moving around so it’s not like you’re the Leafs and are stuck with pretty much the same roster every year.

Trade Fred and/or GTJ tomorrow for solid assets and improve this team for the next couple of seasons. The tank/lottery was always more of a dream, this roster can’t compete with some of the dumpster fires teams are fielding right now. Even if you traded Fred, GTJ and OG at the deadline and tanked hard, we’d still be looking at pick 6-10 or something which is great but not franchise altering. With this direction we probably still pick top 10 and get a great player from this stacked draft.

This is my take right now but I could definitely see a scenario where we look back in a few years and wish we’d nuked this whole roster.

  12. canadianRSK

Im happy jak is back cant wait to see the open gym episode

  13. canadianRSK

I still dont get how the lakers traded a top 4 pick for 3 rotarional players. If we could do that we could jump back into competing if thats what the front office want

  14. hajysjah

The lack of a centre was a big issue don’t get me wrong, but if there isn’t a deal in the works to try and get some shooting, this doesn’t make much sense to me as a rebuild or a re tool

  15. emeister26

Clippers want the championship Raptors team. Raptors want the Demar-Kyle team

  16. DaleYeah788

Do we sell now? I’m not so sure. The east has gotten weak.

  17. PhileinS

no way Suns got KD damn lol. Now im gonna be anxious all day to see who raptors move…no way we will go into FA with 3 expirings contracts right?

  18. NoseBlind2

u/nanobot001 also add the LA, Utah, and Minnesota trade to the list

  19. Cheechers23

One thing I’ve realized with the Poeltl trade is it probably cost the 2 seconds just for San Antonio to take Birch since he’s guaranteed next year lol.

  20. Promethia

Please Masai, trade Fred today. I don’t want to pay him 30mil/year. I want a PG on the Scotty timeline. Bones Hyland or one of the Magics young guards. Keep OG as the bridge between Yak&Skillz and the young guys.

  21. PresidentPeterRusso

Poeltl trade is fantastic. Knew Masai and Bobby wouldn’t trade Gary and 2 First

  22. Lets_go_Raps

Since we bought Jakob, we probably keep Fred and trade OG. I really can’t see Masai trading away our PG this year, and Fred and Pascal are bros. Clearly they’re catering to Pascal with Jakob trade, brother being in the org, etc.

OG is probably going to Memphis or NOLA, or possibly golden state.

  23. coachjayofficial

So we aren’t gonna get anything done today except Poeltl is what I’m guessing

  24. foneinstocus

Poeltl for **three** picks is a fleece and how nephews don’t understand this I will never understand 🤦‍♂️

  25. oHasteeOP

Just wondering if we can keep this civil today boys and don’t just downvote people because you disagree with them unless its really dumb 😂

  26. -KFBR392

What’s the market at this point. 3 of the major buyers (Lakers, Nets, Suns) for OG and FVV are now off the table.

    Who’s left as buyers? Pelicans?
