Boston Celtics trade for Mike Muscala



The Celtics traded for Mike Muscala at the trade deadline, giving up Justin Jackson and two first round picks.     I've just checked Muscala's contract, he has a no trade clause and of course, he waived it.

    3 nice tidbits i heard from my thunder fan friends about muscala:

    1. underrated high post passer. the celtics like to run alot of horns, blind pig or spain pnr. muscala fits in well there. doesn't turn the ball over on these types of passes.

    2. excellent pick and pop shooter. knows where to relocate and can dribble a bit to get into the mid-range for closeouts. will not drive or switch to a postup. underrated in the mid-range.

    3. underrated weakside shotblocker. not athletic but positions and times well. sub-par rebounder. not physical player. not a turnstile when guarding in space. good team defender.

    in terms of buyout wings i'd like terrence ross>will barton>danny green. my dream buyout though is if the hornets decide to buyout gordon hayward. would love to bring him back even as just a rental (which is what we need anyway at this point).

    Muscala a good pickup if Celtics stay healthy. Jakob Poeltl could start when Robert Williams is hurt. Most likely he's going to miss games. Wish they would have dug deeper to get Poteltl for a more legit title shot.

    Hope Mike can do well and just be a stretch Big, Hope we can get someone better off the buyout market as I have no faith in Sam being ok again

    Anyone here an expert on facial fractures? Jbs return timetable reports out there scares me as i see alot of 6-8 weeks. A quick google search says facial fracture healing takes 3-8 weeks depending on severity. That puts his return 1st week of march at the earliest and by the play-in at the latest.

    Hopefully his facial fracture isnt too severe and we get him back on the lower end of that timetable instead..

    Is it me or does every prediction about Gallinari's return sound pessimistic? I hear people talking about him coming back at the end of an eventual deep playoffs run, but the got injured on the 27th of August, I though he might be healty way before that. Am I being too optimistic?

    Jae Crowder can be a pretty significant addition. The Bucks are neck and neck with the Celtics. Crowder pushes the needle more than Muscala.
