I watched that game, it was pitiful and other teams will see the Raps as soft. Lack of execution down the stretch and inability to play solid defense. Had trouble keeping Utah's bigs out of the paint. No, this was very discouraging to witness. I thought it was over but I know Raps blow leads and I watched it happen again.
What are we doing trying to make he playoffs ? smh
This one was a shocker because it looked like the game was done when we were up 12 with around 4 minutes to go. Jazz just went on a run and we went cold at the worst time. It looked like a lack of concentration type loss because we controlled the whole game, so I don't think it means anything long-term but it's so disappointing to have gotten swept to the Jazz this year. I think we took them for granted and stopped playing towards the end. This is where I'd like to see the bench come in early to keep guys hungry at the end of the game. The good news is Siakam is on a tear and Jakob looked good but the refs were on some bull giving him all of those foul calls. Jakob should've been starting to me as we needed him against Kessler.
Raptors play their players too many minutes
I was at the game and we were chanting trade Fred when he airballed at the end
Masai kept Fred in order to tank, job well done
Disgusting
I hope that Pascal, OG, Gary and Precious can all take one more step up in their development before they plateau. If they do and maintain that, until and throughout Scotties Prime, the Raptors will be serious contenders. I think that is Masai's vision and to be honest I really respect that. Because rather then bringing in a bunch of new guys and hope they by into the culture. They can take advantage of having one of the best developmental coaching staffs I'm the NBA and build a championship team with guys they trust, and guys that are extremely bought in now that you have proven to your loyalty and trust to them.
I'm starting to think they may have to gut this team, work the bench more, get rid of those.who are consistently underperforming, and change Nurse.
nothing changes
I would love to see advanced stats of the Raptors in the 4th quarter. How many times have we seen this team not being able to score more than 25 points in the 4th when the opponent outscore the Raptors by a bunch. I really do think that Masai was trying to trade Fred, but his value is just not there. As a veteran guard, Fred should be much more efficient, and yet he is worse by the year. Siakam is great all around, but he is just NOT the closer type of scorer. Siakam got most of his points in the first 3 quarters usually. But when it matters the most, Siakam can't make shots.
I really don't know whether to cheer for losses or wins at this point. Losing now would be better in the long run/getting a decent lottery pick, etc. The schedule doesn't look good for a tank; there are too many very winnable games against teams that are going all in for Wemby. The only real hope is to lose in a play-in to maintain a lottery pick with the chance of moving up in the draft. Upsetting a team like Boston in the first round would be another way to redeem this season. I think Poeltl will be under a lot of pressure to succeed for the remainder of the season – although it sounds like he has management's stamp of approval no matter what he does, since they sort of 'bet the farm' on him. The trade deadline was going to be a great highlight of a subpar year, but it turned out to be massively demoralizing. I think the FO has clear blind spots and stubborn tendencies. Maybe they pull out a miracle in the summer.
wasted my money going to this disappointment of a game
So when the Jazz started the big comeback in the 4th, why didn't Nurse try to find some scoring on the bench when the guys on the floor went stone cold? I just don't get it…. We're now up to 15 losses this season by less than 6 points. Maybe Nurse is going for some weird record to be remembered for, because at this rate, it's sure not going to be for his strategic coaching skills.
Fred sucks…
I really hope we do play terrible just so we can tank to get a better player like victor or if not a point guard like scoot or amen.
Ben I still believe in this team
You are trying not to overreact as if we weren’t shit for this whole season, honestly nothing has changed. Why are people so surprised?
Ok, Raps traded for a real center and don't start him? NN still running core starters into the ground like he's coaching in a playoff series in almost every game- when will it all end? Raptors could have drafted Walker Kessler instead ended up with Thad Young who SA acquired when they traded DeRozan to the Bulls. SA stays getting over on Raps in trade deals. Raps have traded 3 recent #1 picks to SA including one in the Kawhi deal, one in the Dragic deal and one in the Poeltl deal. Both Masai and Bobby created this current Raptors basketball quagmire, now they need to fix it.
Are you OK Ben? We'll get through it. Can't last forever.
best way I could describe this game down the stretch is same useless pieces of shit different big. smh
Ben you were celebrating not trading FVV for Terrance Mann+ picks but this is a perfect example of why. Fred is done, he’s at best a 4th or 5th option on a contender but on the raptors his usage is way too high and is taking away touches from young players.
Fred is the new tank commander.
I’ve held off for as long as I could but I’m totally done with Fred. When you have a point guard that would rather take a contested midrange jumper than pass to the big rolling to the rim you have a huge problem. He calls his own number way too often, and his defence is below average. It speaks volumes that a team like the clippers, who are desperate for a point guard, wouldn’t include a first + Mann to get a deal done. I would rather Fred walks for nothing than pay him anything north of 23mil.
I’m also out on Nick Nurse. He’s schemes are trash on both sides of the ball and I don’t think the players mess with him anymore. Maybe Fred still rocks with nick but that’s a negative tbh
Once again opposing coach eats up our deficiencies. Quick guard destroys Fred and their bigs control paint on both ends. You have to have more than one big in this league. Poeltl can’t do it on his own. Amazing how Utah kept to two strategies. Let Sexton penetrate past Fred and draw a foul and use Kessler, Markinen and Olynyk to simply out size. In the fourth Utah had four centres at one point.
The contest now is whether Fred or Nurse claims the most responsibility for the losses. Misery loves company. Also Nurse again allowing Utah to go on a huge run and reacts like a deer caught in headlights. Pure shock. No answer or time out to slow the hemorrhaging.
Now that OG avoided the trade get your wimpy butt on the floor. The medical staff should be let loose as well. The amount of down time these so called injured Raptors get is unbelievable. Otto should win the Workers Comp award for biggest injury scam.
Why tf were we buyers I ask this till the end of my days as a raps fan
I feel for Jakob, get a little optimism behind us and the rest allow a 14-1 run to lose. Nice welcome back.
I don’t understand why we did not trade Fred for what was availabilie like what was the expectation he’s overated
