[Boston Sports Gordo] Payton Pritchard told @GwashburnGlobe that he expected and hoped to be traded at the deadline: “I definitely was expecting and hoping [for a trade] … But you know, I [have to] look at the good things. We’re the best team in the NBA right now and we have a great team…”

I love Pritchard, I’m glad we kept him. Disappointed that the feeling isn’t mutual, though, but whatever. I feel like the opportunity to win a Title this early in his career would be worth more than whatever merit he would gain from being tossed onto the Thunder or Blazers or some other team, but I understand his desire to play more minutes…

  2. I mean the guy wants to play, it’s understandable. Lucky for him the health of the guards in front of him is questionable so he’ll get minutes. Hopefully he uses them to his advantage to develop as a player.

Love and respect for PP. He’s better than a lot of guys getting minutes on other teams and he doesn’t want to spend his career riding the bench, even if he’s on a contender. He has a story to write for his career and needs to be on the floor.

Next time try to score more than 7 points in 21 minutes against the Hornets, then let’s talk again.

I appreciate that he is saying this is a way that isn’t disruptive to the team. He is a pro out there coming in doing his job and trying to make the most of it for his next contract. Unfortunately, he’s just stuck behind three much better point guards.

I agree with the sentiment but with Washburn you have to be careful because the guy has some sort of unexplainable hate for this team, he sensationalizes quotes at times to make them sound worse than they actually are.

Regardless, I do think that *if* we make a meaningful trade in the offseason or later, we should think about including him not only because of his value, but so that he can get more minutes someplace else.

I think he just wants a bigger role. I don’t think he’a truly unhappy in Boston. Not gonna read too much into this. He has great energy.

Damn I liked Pritchard but he hates it here that’s too bad, we were behind him a ton I thought, oh well

  9. HeroOfSevenEleven

Those brackets really change the tone of what he’s saying here, this g Washburn sure seems like a piece of work

I don’t know why anyone would have an issue with this. Of course he wants more minutes, a bigger role and the bigger contract that comes with that. A deep playoff run is great but he’s looking for a solid bag. I don’t blame him and I hope he kills it in the playoffs and gets PAID

  11. RekLeagueMvp

He’s 25 and a small pg, this could’ve been his best chance at getting a good contract.

I’m getting tired of this guy. You’re not Steve Nash bro. You’ve started eight games in three years. Pump the brakes.

  13. gimme_the_light

Lmao like okay bro I get it but it’s kinda annoying how he is flaunting that shit in the media. Kinda makes him seem like a bitch but what do I know…

  14. Ear_Enthusiast

I’ve never seen this before. Mad respect to this kid. Hope he has a few “moments” in the playoffs. Hope he raises his stock. I love that he’s dying for a bigger role but not shitty about his current situation.

  15. He wants a bigger role. He was not going to get minutes over Smart White and Brogden. He will take his ring and go elsewhere in the offseason.

  16. DeucesWild10

I’d be worried if he was happy with his role. His role is basically warming the bench so if he was happy with that, not a good sign.

I want guys who want the ball and want to play. This kid has serious talent and he needs minutes. Unfortunately it’s not for this team… 😭

  17. supersickx3

He’s 25 and a current 4th string PG. This may be his ONLY shot at a payday in his career. He wants to go somewhere where he can play more and hopefully secure a decent contract. That’s not happening in Boston. He knows he’s not prioritized and that he’s not gonna secure the bag here. It’s really as a simple as that.

It’s also weird he’s saying all of this during the season and after the deadline. At that point just keep it to yourself and tell Brad.

  18. All I’ll say is careful what you wish for PP. You could have a bigger role in San Antonio or play your role on a championship team. One is actually more fulfilling than the other.

  19. SaveHogwarts

He would be a third string point guard on team fighting for the playoffs.

He bums layups, he gambles for steals, his size doesn’t allow him to pass as well as he’s able to, he’s unplayable for long stretches in the playoffs, and when he isn’t hitting shots, he’s borderline useless.

He fits a role, but it’s not the role he thinks.

  20. Anxious_Land_3322

I mean if he had stepped up in the Warriors series and been better in any of those games the team wouldn’t have identified Brogdan as a need, but he didn’t so he’s riding the bench till the summer.

  21. 3xTheSchwarm

Don’t get a bigger role, more playing time, then you don’t get paid the bigger bucks. The man is out for a fatter paycheck, not the HOF. Ain’t no shame in that. Make scratch PP. At the end of the day that’s far more transformational to a third tier player than a title.

Keep in mind folks we are talking about MILLIONS of dollars difference. Some of us would do crimes for that kinda cash.

  22. Beantown-p

He’s lucky to be in the league zip it Peyton please! acting like he’s done something just fill your role on the team and leave when you get a chance don’t jeopardize the team we have now by being selfish

  23. unlaynaydee

I will cheer for PP regardless what team he is on except the Fakers

  24. Hopeful-Pair-9193

He doesn’t strike me as very bright with how much he talks to the media. Stick a mic in his face and he’ll tell you exactly how he feels

  25. Laszlo-Panaflex

Good luck to PP when he’s off the Celtics. I don’t see a big bag in his future. He strikes me as having a Shane Larkin trajectory.

  26. Adam0529

Mazzooka hates Washburn for a reason….

    Snake…

  27. He’s a 4 year college player looking to get something bigger than a rookie contract – can’t blame him

  28. DurantulaMan

Bro we get it holy shit how many times are you going to say you don’t want to be here in the last week . Kind of annoying…
