[Andrew Lopez] David Griffin says Zion Williamson re- aggravated his hamstring injury. He’s looking at missing multiple weeks post All-Star. Will be re-evaluated when they get back from ASG.

Wondering if the FO knew this before the trade deadline & that is why they were so passive about trades

  2. ChrisTheMiss

that was a really nice first two months of the season.

  4. Reasonablechesse

How does this happen when it feels like we’re so careful with injuries? Damn this hurts

  5. BasketTimely

I mean we have the worst luck when it comes to injuries man

  6. lawyerface123

7 weeks left in the regular season. Does he make it back before then?

  7. I love the dude but I doubt we ever get more than those 61 games out of him a season. He’s too athletic for his own damn body.

  8. tulsuduke

Well, the remainder of the season hinges on the core from last season.

  9. flaccidplatypus

Wtf is wrong with this god damned team? Constantly fucking things up almost every season.

  10. Briguy_fieri

Y’all. I’m honestly saying that we need to start considering Zion lagniappe to our roster at this point. He’s the little extra for our team. But we can’t keep building around him when he’s not there to play with the roster constricted for him.

  11. betakurt

I’m starting to think he might literally be too big and strong for his body to play basketball. This hurts.

  12. Jdubksnf

He just can’t be counted on. This will be a frustration every year…

Sucks. Great kid, but will never be able to take us anywhere due to his body.

“Multiple weeks” after the all star game is the remainder of the season. Even more so when you consider how the Pels communicate.

  13. daybreaker

we need to fire every single medical person from both teams and just start completely over. Somehow, somewhere, we are completely fucking things up.

If its one or two players, ok, it happens.

Two years in a row, both teams, SEVERAL key players, just out. Constantly “re-evaluating later” then “re-aggravating” it to be out longer.

Fucking how. How does this happen to SO MANY our players? At this point it cant be a coincidence, and has to be something with our medical teams.

  14. WHAT_THE_DEVIL

This is pretty shitty. Can only hope BI and the squad can put together some wins in the meantime. The western conference is already extremely close as is, and it only got more stacked after the trade deadline. I get a little nervous about Z though… everyone wants to see this team full strength heading into the playoffs to see what they’re capable of. Just have to hope there aren’t any more setbacks with Zion and that he’s able to come back with plenty of time to get back into a groove. This team is dangerous when they’re healthy.

  15. j_palazzolo

Willing to bet a large sum of money his season is finished. I love Zion and my Pelicans, but history speaks for itself.

  16. Downvote me but whatever

The front office Should consider trading Zion or BI

You cannot contend with 2 injury prone stars

  17. BaronsDad

*edit* got the dates wrong. Thanks u/Pelicanfan07

March 3rd is 3 weeks after the All-Star game. March 10th is 4 weeks after the All-Star Game. The season ends on April 9th.

Trying to ramp Zion up right before the playoffs would be bad news. This team hasn’t played together much at all.

  18. TaviscaronLT

    Pain.

With Zion returning soon we should have been a top6 team easily.

Now it’ll be an uphill battle for 6th, and may even be a battle to stay in the play-in if one of BI/CJ/JV gets injured.

  19. gallnyla

Somebodies gotta go through that arena with some sage and get whatever curse we have out of there .

  20. PaKyuBai

Then after being re-evaluated after the all star break we’ll be waiting for the ” out for the remainder of the season” news… need to bubble wrap every single player. This season has nothing but injuries left and right.

  21. Razor-Ramon-Sessions

    Well that’s that.

They rest of the team is gonna have to step up cuz we aren’t seeing Zion for a while.

Hamstrings suck. They linger and are easily re-aggravated. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not ready until the playoffs.

Edit: some of you only come out when the news is negative. It’s sad.

  22. timmy1602

Just feel so bad for Zion the person. Yes we were absolutely rolling with him healthy but if this is another lost season it’s going to be really tough on him mentally. He got himself in great shape this season and put the work in. Hamstrings are notoriously fickle. Let’s hope he gets through this hurdle and can return some time end of March.

  23. BasketballLiker

What’s concerning about these injuries is it’s not like Zion’s getting rolled up on by a defender – these are stress injuries, where the tissue and bone of his lower body can’t handle the stress he puts on them.

  24. andregurov

This sucks, but this lets the team know the cavalry isn’t coming anytime soon. They need to put it out of their mind and play their way. At least we are good enough to make the playoffs without Zion.

  25. I feel like I’m being scammed as a fan. Like I’ve been sold a timeshare and the fine print is screwing me over.

  26. I got nothin man….just why is this every season? No matter who is on the team, or who the team is built around, how is this every damn time?

I remember how many times I had to see that stupid ass stat of how few mins the Pels “core” of AD, Jrue, Ryno, Gordon, and Tyreke actually played together. Then they pivot and trade for Boogie who’s career completely changed for the worst a couple months later. They are forced to pivot again and the team is now built around two stars who are ALSO injury prone and tend to miss extended periods of time seemingly every year. I get so jealous of fans of teams that have normal injury problems, or stars who are relatively healthy. Lol this shit is so annoying sometimes, especially when you’re buying all these tickets and gear etc every season.

  27. goku7144

I kinda expected this but still awful to hear. I don’t ever trust hamstring injuries, but part of me had hope we’d get 2-3 months of healthy play then make a playoff run. We have a good team. So sad if we have to again go “well NEXT season”. I can’t be doing that every single year. Eventually time runs out.

  28. CanalVillainy

Aaron Nelson, what’s up my guy? Isn’t preventing re-injury your thing?

  29. Jdubksnf

Wish we could replay all of those “meaningless” games everyone kept mentioning in December

  30. jjazznola

It sucks but I just don’t see Zion and BI ever making it through 4 rounds of playoffs never mind a regular season. It’s always something with these two.

  31. Every team doctor and member of the medical staff needs to have their job reevaluated. The extent of these injuries is inexcusable
