James Wiseman Is Not Your Normal “Reclamation Project” For The Detroit Pistons, Is He A Future Star?

James Wiseman is not your typical Detroit Pistons reclamation project, the former #2 overall pick has just as big of a chance to become a star as he did three years ago when he was drafted. Joined by Locked On Warriors host to talk about Wiseman’s three years in Golden State and his future, and then joined by Locked On Cavs host to get an idea of how starting two-bigs who aren’t great shooters together can work.

  1. Am I crazy for thinking Wiseman has the potential to be a unicorn in this league? Less dominant Giannis, but better shooting. Less imposing Embiid, but lighter and faster. Better post game than any of our bigs, and most in the league to be frank. Truly an elite lob threat, and can get a defensive board and get out on the break faster than any big in the league, check that if you don’t believe me. I think this could be a huge move for us moving forward.

  2. Ku! Killian Hayes is not good & will never be. I love this podcast but you gotta let him go! His whole career is in a slump. Just accept it bro. 😂

  3. You want to know why GS drafted Wiseman? Because everyone always says when you have a #1, #2 pick, you draft for talent not fit. I despise that rule.

  4. I'm excited about Wiseman. Ivey is proving to be a very good pick and roll guard and Cade is as well. They will work great with Wiseman. Wiseman even has potential with his jumper. I love that the Pistons are starting him asap and not messing around. They need to see what he has and I think he could still be a star. I don't want to get my hopes up or anything but I am definitely excited to watch the rest of this season and see how all these young pieces develop.

  5. Pistons haven’t showed any improvement under Casey as coach. they need to fire Casey after this year or they’ll find themselves in the lottery again. Casey is highly over rated.

  6. Nice cast Ku! I am starting to see something nearing a Donovan Mitchell type of ceiling for Ivey if everything breaks right with how good he's been lately (~30% assist rate, much improved middie, more consistent shot overall). So thinking about Cade and Ivey vs Mitchell and Garland was interesting. I still believe in Cade's shot. As long as the SF is a true knock down 3 point shooter (maybe why they hung on to Bogey for now), maybe the two big experiment has a chance.

  7. Wiseman is going to be excellent in Detroit. I truly believe it. I remember when he went head to head with Mobely in HS.
Go watch them play and keep in mind Wiseman (even though he was a class a head of Mobely) he's the younger guy. Wiseman is a freak athlete that's long, long, long.

  8. As a warriors fan I’m very sad to see Wiseman go! He’s been very dedicated to improving and done everything the coaches asked him to. Rather than take his strengths and implement them in the offense, Kerr tried to force him to a specific role. He specifically told him his role wasn’t to score but to set screens and play defense. Obviously the offense is ran around steph but Steph can easily adapt to other players rather than the other way around, especially if it’s a player with not a lot of experience. If wiseman gets a lot of time you’re going to see a lot of flashes.

Wise is not a BUST! He just got drafted to a team that was gonna be 100% invested into his development, they even hired a coach specifically to work with him until they won the chip and then switched up and he was left in the cross fires

  9. Honnestly, Wiseman is a non sense recruit for the Pistons.
He is EXACTLY a clone of Marvin Bagley, who already has a similar profile to Isiah Stewart !

He will be a good rotation player, but what's the point of stacking so many similar profiles ? Especially when Jalen Duren is a great prospect to develop this year and next year ? (And Nerlens Noel is still in the roster…)

  10. Wiseman could be a 20 and 10 guy with enough minutes and system. The issue is he'll also be a 20 in +/ for the next 2 years (which is ok in Detroit) while he figures out how to defend. Also "He (Kerr) jnherited a dynasty that hadn't won a championship!" Is hands down the dumbest comment I've ever heard.

  11. Steve Kerr and the Dwayne Casey types are addicted to small ball smh!!

Dude just took a shot at our whole 2020 draft class he doesn’t even know who the Pistons took!!😅😅

Basketball is simple if you grew up watching the NBA at least from the 90s through the 00s starting 2 bigs is a path back to normalcy. Coaching has gotten LAZY over the years and coaching staffs just want to rely on 3pt shooting rather then developing big men and implementing a game plan for them. I will say this any big men lineups today need to be able to DEFEND the PERIMETER!!

I just hope we get rid of Bagley and Hayes for a real WING DEFENDER!!

Don’t be surprised if Bey goes to work on us; he’s on a mission to expose Casey and Bojan!!
