CWood’s recent likes. tbh I’d be liking these tweets too if I was the 3rd best player on the team and Powell was still starting over me. What do you think is the reason Wood is being restricted?

Wood did not want to sign an extension. Why play a Player that is going to leave anyways?

  2. ID0ntCare4G0b

Christian Wood is that significant other who keeps telling you how loyal and not cheating they are while completely checking out on the relationship and cheating on you constantly. Like dude has been low key passively shit posting the Mavs constantly since he joined the team.

They traded stuff for him. Why the fuck do people keep clinging onto the notion that they didn’t want him to succeed?

  3. Hurtelknut

I told you his tweet at the trade deadline didn’t bode well…

  4. koolfashion

I think Wood did everything right in his contract year. Still not enough. Imagine Wood and Kyrie leaving after the season.

It doesnt matter if powell starting, you have ky-luka too anyway

    Minutes distribution is more important

There’s no reason they have same minutes played

There’s no reason that kidd cant make at least 2 of kyrie-luka-wood on the floor for 48 minutes

  6. Darkphobia_

A lose-lose situation for both sides. Kidd clearly doesnt rate him at all, it’s been apparent from the start. The only reason he started games was cause of injuries.

We’re gonna end up losing another good player for nothing.

I mean. Can you blame him for being frustrated? Kidd gives a crazy amount of leeway to guys like Reggie and Timmy by letting them make thousands of mistakes, but the second Wood makes one of two in a row, he’s automatically in the doghouse; despite being the second best player on our team (tonight). This is like the situation between Rick and Nerlens all over again. The coach is letting his ego take control instead of coaching by putting the best pieces out there. Mavs showed tonight that no matter who was out there, they weren’t gonna play D. So why not ride C-Wood? He’s the only guy(tonight) on our team who can actually go on 10 point streak all by himself, except for Luka. He injected the team with a little life in the fourth and helped cut the lead to 10. He’s got that ability. On a normal night, he’s a real luxury to have coming off the bench. Think about it. Instead Kidd treats him like a kid and singles him out in press conferences. Kidd has had a problem with him from the beginning, and it fucking sucks. We gave up a first for a rental. And the dude is putting up 18 and 8 efficiently. We didn’t trade for him to put up major defense. We traded for him to put up what he’s putting up right now. Why is Kidd and the fans so surprised. Most people knew the deal from the beginning

  8. the moment we change coaches, hopefully this season, Wood would average 30 minutes

  9. I’m just shocked by how many fans are supporting Woods behavior lately. This is toxic as fuck and I’m not surprised the coaches are over him

  10. amino110

The problem is he always thinks he’s better than he really is. And some fans here overrate him because all they value is scoring .

Never seen a defensive turnstile like him complain about starting , the way he’s doing right now. All the scoring-first players from Jordan Clarkson , Lou Williams to Montrezl Harrell, all of them accepted their role from the bench .

With this attitude, he’s either gonna be out of the league or play 30 minutes as a tank commander for the MLE .

His defense, but it’s not like the other choices have been great defensively

  12. The only reason why I think he shoould be playing more is because we don’t really have anyone else.

I know his stats are nice, but he isn’t playing that well. Look at tonight’s game. You look at the boxscore and think he had a good game (17 ponits, +1). But that’s just not true. He was terrible in first half, like most of the team. He then scored all (or almost all) of his points in the first 6 minutes in 4th quarter. And this happens almost every game, he’s bad for most of the time and then quickly scores a lot of points and then he’s bad again. He does almost nothing besides scoring and he’s only good at scoring for 5-10 minutes in every game. So it’s logical he only plays 20 minutes.

He was strating to play better when he was starting, but then he got injured. I know it was mostly against bad teams, but still. Maybe he’s just more motivated when he starts or something. I think we should try and start him again, since he’s our only center that could potentially play good defense and rebound.

I swear to god this Wood hate is fascinating. People hating on the guy, who single-handedly got Dallas back in the game, and was a positive, while we playing McGee and Powell over him and at one point he was on the court with I think 4 other guys who are barely NBA level players. He’s literally become like the step kid who just gets automatically blamed for everything bad that happens in the house. It’s like mob mentality/group think.

  14. HotsHartley

    >What do you think is the reason Wood is being restricted?

    Defense and attitude.

If he’s airing his grievances like this **publicly** (not just on social, but through Tim Cato & reporters), then it’s not a stretch to imagine similar malcontent in private.

You can’t read the papers and let it affect your attitude. It feels like CW sees fans citing his stat line and praising his offense, and lets that fuel his indignation/frustration for minutes/starting. You also can’t give them any reason to stir the pot. Tim Cato and Tim MacMahon — and any tabloid reporter, really — will pounce for any controversy if they smell blood.

  15. AshyCheekss

Christian Wood doesn’t like it here anymore. The whole world knows.

This is getting to a point of no return. His play doesn’t fit a role that we need and the role that we need doesn’t fit how he wants to play.

    That’s fine.

He won’t be here next season. The Mavs will definitely try to squeeze out whatever value they can before he leaves though…

  16. His defense is hard to watch and sometimes he loses the plot. He’s a poor man’s KP

  17. moctezuma-

He should be starting IDGAF what anyone says

  18. We do not see him in practice. We do not see him in the locker room. Gotta trust that the coaching team makes the right decisions. Our defense is lacking already, moving him into the lineup would probably hurt us even more.

  19. trippstick

3rd best offensive player sure but a big boy that plays no defense is almost more negative than positive imo. Kidd just doesn’t feel making team play around him when hes got enough of that

  20. gortlank

Dude is not smart lol. He’s not good enough to pull this shit with his history, and think it won’t effect his future when he leaves.

  21. ShassaFrassa

He’s good on offense but not good enough to be a premier option and definitely not good enough to outweigh his defensive liabilities. You see flashes of brilliance when he’s out there but the team just *bleeds* points. Just to give an example, he drops back a lot on the high screen and roll and leaves the shooters wide open. You can actually hear Kidd screaming at him to stay home but he either ignores Kidd or doesn’t think. He’s good… but he’s not a winning player. Powell is bad but he buys into the system and has a winning mentality even if his talent level can’t back it up.

  22. TransientReddit

Could it possibly be that the consistent rumors of him being an immature, hard to coach and hard to play with teammate have anything to do with it? People pretend like being a better basketball player means you should start over someone else that’s not as impactful. What they’re maybe not taking into account is that the basketball world is littered with enormous talents that didn’t pan out because they didn’t know when to just lace up, play the game and not drag their team to anyone who would listen because they want more playing time. The basketball world is better for coaches having these standards.

When was the last time Dwight Powell did anything but be professional, keep his head down and work hard and push through whatever team situation was going on? Cwood is obv the better player but he’s not so much better that I’d reward his shitty attitude with more playing time as a coach (especially on a team with other young guys that you’re trying to bring up the right way).

  23. Kontinued

That or he liked the tweet because someone was giving him a very good compliment. Stop overthinking this stuff

  24. bryanc1036

It’s amazing how still isn’t starting every game and still one of our leading scorers.

  25. AkaneT14

You will see Powell starting every playoff game over Wood and you will like it 😀 – J Kidd

  26. zebracakes64

It’s pick your poison at the center position. We have no complete players. We need scoring off the bench so that’s why Wood is coming off of the bench. If he wants to start, he needs to improve on the defensive end. If he’s not capable of doing so, that’s fine, but he won’t start with a backcourt of Luka and Kyrie.

I think he’s partially correct, and that on the right team/situation he can theoretically start and thrive. But, he’s just not as good as he thinks he is. I think he’d actually get a better contract if he just bought in to his role and the system since one of the biggest ??? about C Wood is his attitude.

You know who truly has stayed loyal and committed and proven their character? Dwight Powell LOL.

Christian Wood has proven that he wants to show out in his contract year. That’s nothing special and it doesn’t speak much to his character.

I don’t think he’s in the “dog house”, he’s getting quality minutes. Unless you’re an all star, most big men don’t get 30+ minutes. It’s a low bar to be better than Dwight Powell, and I’ll give him that. But, C Wood doesn’t fit what the team needs from the center position and he’s just not THAT much better.
