  1. Yep, you nailed it regarding Green's coaching. Even in the OKC win on Monday, JV took 6 shots (and made 5) against a team that essentially does not have an NBA center. Aside from Zion's history of injuries, Willie's coaching limits this team's ceiling. He has to figure this stuff out fast. Continually waiting for Zion to come back from his many injuries to "save us" seems like a rerun of years past. We should have had enough talent on the floor last night to at least compete – not get embarrassed.

  2. That no call foul on James when he knock Richardson on the floor reminded me of the no call in that rams…Saints game. Terrible!!!

  3. Had a break before court resumes to watch this to get my recap. Had to get to bed at start of 4th qtr . Against the Cavs and Lakers, they both knew everything the Pels were wanting to do. Green made no observable adjustments. They knew our passing tendencies, where players liked to be…we were predictable.

  4. Last night, the Pelicans only goal was to make it to the All Star break. From the opening tip, there was no passion, no fire, no effort to win. Yes, they got within 2 points in the 3rd, and then they fell apart.

Where is the Willie Green that said "you gotta fight!" That coach is gone.

Where is the team that was the #1 seed earlier this season? That team is gone.

The front office felt continuity was the way to go during the offseason. No changes were made, only the drafting of Dyson Daniels and EJ Liddel. This is the exact same roster from 2022. The problem is last season WAS last season. This is a new season and the other 29 teams are ready for this team. They aren't sneaking up on anyone like Jose Alvarado sneaks behind someone to steal the ball or create a turnover.

Willie Green will likely be back next season, but a veteran coach alongside him would help with in game situations. It would also put some pressure on Willie to do a better job, make him feel the heat knowing someone behind him could replace him if he doesn't change.

Keep in mind, Ime Udoka could be available. He may be an unethical individual dealing with matters of the heart, but in 1 season he led Boston to the finals. If Willie gets dismissed, that is an option the Pelicans could go towards.

23 games left. Will they fight to the playoffs or just limp to a disappointing finish? 🤷🏽‍♂️🤔🤦🏾‍♂️

  5. Mike D’Antoni had one of the fastest pacing offenses for a while and we are not using his system is beyond me

  6. Jake, I love your show. I listen to every show and I agree with so much of what you say. Especially about the lack of offensive synergy and the reluctance of the coach to make in game adjustment. But, I still believe that until we get a bonafide NBA caliber point guard we will never be as good as we should. If you weigh the strength of our point guard position, it's the weakest position on the team. A point guard with his own gravity would change the way the team would function. I may be completely wrong, but that's just my opinion. Keep up the good work.

  7. Run set plays for TM3 mid shots to warm him up maybe a run to the rim. Maybe go to the old line up of Jack Hayes and JV.

  8. if they didn't pay an outrageous salary to a guy who never plays they could be more flexible and sign more players

  9. DIDN'T YOU KNOW JAKE?? WE'RE NOT TRYING TO BUILD A WINNING FRANCHISE…WE'RE TRYING TO BUILD A FAMILY THAT GROWS IN THEIR RELATIONSHIPS AND WITH THE LORD. THAT LOCKER ROOM IS A SAFE HAVEN OF FORGIVENESS, FRIENDSHIPS AND NO ACCOUNTABILITY. WILLIE DOESN'T HAVE ANY NEED TO FEEL A SENSE OF URGENCY. HIS JOB IS SECURE AND HE KNOWS IT.

I'M SO TIRED OF THE SAME COACHING ISSUES!!

  10. We know the players love playing for Willie but he does have a long way to go in terms of X’s and O’s. He has to get more creative on offense. Defensively they need to give better effort and start communicating better, they get lost or overcommit to help way too much. Coach needs to lay off the heavy switching scheme from time to time.
That being said, these are NBA players, they should have learned long ago to never stand still. Our whole entire offense in HS was about motion, someone always cutting or setting a pick and rolling off the screen. It should be a common thing for these guys. This team is still so young though, coach included. It sucks right now but it’s not something that can’t be fixed. It’s going to take both coach and player development.

  11. We need a true PG who can create there own shit and have some size plus a rim protector and I think we’ll be alright

  12. Jonas would stand around at top of key looking for a pass hand off and never look at the rim where the paint was wide open

  13. They need to run the offense through Trey more. Stop camping him in a corner to just stand as a decoy. The kid is our next best threat after BI. CJ is much smaller and his defense sucks. Have some faith in Trey Murphy

  14. What happened to Naji's aggression. Where is B.I's playmaking?
What's the point in having JV if we don't utilize him?
    Big concerns

  15. First problem in at least half, maybe closer to 70% of the games: first five minutes (unless JV is sitting). Last night after 0-7, ballooning to 4-19, I thought back to great coaches of the past who would have sat the entire first unit at 0-7 after 1:40 and get some life on the court and possibly wake up the starters before having to climb out of a 15-point hole without a Jordan Clarkson or Russell Westbrook to come in and fire it all back up. The plus-minus of JV, CJ, and Murphy together is near the bottom of the league…including scrubs. The Lakers defense was good only for the first ten-twelve seconds of each possession, then they lost focus. Somebody must have seen that?! Also I have no idea why after getting a rare offensive rebound the Pelicans act like the shot clock is at about five seconds before chucking something back up without any semblance of a play. As long as Mike D'Antoni is breathing, get him involved.

  16. I honestly don’t think any of the coaches can support the post. You have JV, Jaxson, and Willy who have no fight in the paint consistently. They are all underdeveloped and the coaches are obviously not working on it in practice.

  17. Man if this team was fully healthy for most of the season then this team is top 3 right now its so sad as pelicans fans we have to continue to wait to see how great ingram and zion can be together ingram gets double teamed pulls up and still hits his shot zion takes 3-4 dudes with him to the rim and still puts it down ingram and zion would be embarrassing defenses right now its unfortunate for us pels fans that we dont get a full season to enjoy there greatness because if they was healthy together our offense wouldnt be looking as crappy as it is we all know that

  18. I’ve now successfully transferred all my hate from deviate Graham to Jonas

  19. I’ve now successfully transferred all my hate from deviate Graham to Jonas

  20. One of the benefits of the NBA is that you get to watch every team play. And more often than not I find myself admiring the wide open looks the others teams opposing coaches are able to draw up against is. The wide open threes we never get. The pick and role lob dunks we never get. The down screen layup we never get. The worst of all is the struggles we have from out of time outs. Forget scoring, we struggle with even getting the ball in under 5 secs.

Willie is a great players coach, but he has to find him and OC that he can give that role to. I just don't think he has that in him, and it's ok.

  21. I've been thinking that for awhile Jake… These guys need to move when BI has the ball. He is such a willing passer but he can't get you the ball when he's doubled and no ones moving without the ball. Willie is a good coach and an even better person but this staff needs to make better decisions. They never take advantage of mismatches and they have a point five offense with no motion. Please Willlie address these issues during the break. 24 assists is not enough.

  22. I agree with using jv offensively if you playing him 30+ min but he's also hindering them the most. Willie should change up rotations, yes but truth is Murphy iq has to get better and herb has to find a real niche offensively besides that one first step move. It's more on the players rn than coaching imo

  23. I love BI, but I feel like when he is in the game, everything is iso mismatch. But when he's not in the game, it's a lot more offball movement.

  24. Tree Murphy gets discouraged and can be a little timid on the court at times, especially when someone is talking trash. And it discourages him, and he plays awful. Willie green is not, and He knows he is not a coach of Xs and Os And can be a little confused once a coach start playing Mine games
