I'd pay FVV if he's willing to play more the way he's been playing lately ; off ball, and passing more when he is on ball, especially in the clutch, plus he's easier to hide on defense with Jak here now.

Any team that signs Fred VanVleet 30 or more will sink their team. Kyle couldn't get it. I am comfortable teams will provide him a message that he isn't that good. Of course teams teams turned down a player and a pick. Undersized guard who can't defend and is a decent shooter. The Raptors will make the playoffs and can get into the top 6 even playing from behind. But for them to do anything in the playoffs, VanVleet is going to have to play less than the 35 minutes he has played all season. Same scenario as last year. Playoffs are a different beast tigher game more physical. Teams guard much harder this is why he struggles in the playoffs. Better players and guarding harder. VanVleet can't handle this.
I won’t loose sleep if Fred goes. It’s a blessing in disguise, opens up a new opportunity to team.

I think Fred is in for a rude awakening. He's an average defensive player and an inefficient scorer. He's not really a pass first guy. I feel like he needs to change his game up in this regard and increase his offensive efficiency even if it means scoring less.

It wasn't $30 million. The early extension can only be 20% raise from previous contract. So $25 million is the most the Raptors can offer. Raptors knew FVV wanted more, so they didn't bother with the early extension contract offer.
No team valued raptors players as much as our organization thought . That is humbling for raptors .

been a Fred supporter since seeing him in Summer League, but jesus..30+ a year for him will do nothing but hinder our team. I was really hoping (and preaching to haters) that this would be the year Fred turns back into more a point guard, as he ended up turning into a straight up sg playing alongside KLOW for all those years. IMO he should be willing to take a "paycut" to stay and help since we were the ones who paid him already + gave him his chance to have the stage that he does. It feels more and more that he is just looking to secure the max bag though..no hate to him, but we shouldn't be falling into that trap IMO

raptors shouldn’t make the playoffs. it’ll be a first round exit. the 8 teams currently in the playoff seeds are much better. the raptors can’t win a 7 game series against those teams and likely to get swept. it also prevents the raps from getting a top draft pick.
I’m still in “wait and see” mode. Having a proper centre, quite frankly, changes what everybody on the floor is doing. Everybody. Fred has been not only playing more minutes than pretty much anyone in the NBA but he’s also been doing it without a centre. The frustration is understandable but the hatred is misplaced. Also all indications to me are that Masai is willing to go into the luxury tax and keep everyone. It’s not as simple as just trading his salary for someone else’s.

It doesn't matter how the Raps do it.. but more importantly is Raps move away from Bumvleet. Not just because of the ridiculous contract Fred thinks he is worth but Bumvleet drastically hinders the Raps from becoming a better team.
