The NBA All-Star Break is finally here, and boy do we need it. The Bulls head into the break on a season-long six-game losing streak, and a tough question needs to be discussed. Tony Gill and K.C. Johnson break down the season and discuss if it’s better to get a top-four draft pick than push for a play-in/playoff spot this year. Later in the pod, the guys discuss the news for the Bulls during the break, including if the Bulls will shut Lonzo Ball down for the season, Ayo Dosunmu’s participation in the Rising Stars game, and if they think DeMar DeRozan should play in the All-Star game. And finally, the guys celebrate MJ’s 60th birthday.

Absolutely NOTHING can be gained by trying to make the play in….keep losing the rest of the way then hope & pray the lottery balls bounce our way
The Bulls should have kept Mac McClung and he should be starting pg. I'm dead serious I said it then and he proves me right day by day. I'm so mad
Tank. What is the point now? What are they going to prove at this point? The probabilities of winning the play-in and get out of the first round are abismal.
Top 5 pick with hope for lotto luck they would have to lose 90% of their remaining games ans one of the current shitty four teama would have get red hot. We're 2 games from the 5th pick
Billy needs to go
Great content!
This is a no brainer. We already know this team doesn’t work. It’s hard to imagine that Lonzo coming back next year would change much, if he’s back at all. The only time this organization has had significant success it’s been because of the draft lottery. And once again, that’s what’s it’s going to take for this organization to escape the cycle of mediocrity.
The offense sucked last year too. The team was supposed to be defense-minded with an emphasis and getting downhill and making points off of turnovers. Enough of our guys get hurt who have sticky hands (Zo, Caruso, Javonte to an extent) and we end up with a terrible half-court offense. Injuries kept this team from growing together (and covid for a stretch) but its too far gone now to test another year. Time for like 6 dudes to go. The fact that Billy can craft a top-10 defense is great. The offense needs the right players to make it happen.
Bulls have a better path to the top 4 in the draft lottery if they tank. With their "continuity" the best the Bulls can do is a play in if they try to win. The way the Bulls play as a team the window for that play in is closing rather fast. More Dalen Terry please.
If I were management I'd weigh the odds of landing a top 4 draft pick vs playing 1 extra play-in game after an 82-game season. If the Bulls do make it to the play-in game are they good enough to make it past the 1st rd? What is that, 2 extra home games filled with disgruntled Bulls fans? Rookie Derrick Rose is not walking through that door.
However, if the Bulls use these final 24 or so games to develop and evaluate their young talent maybe the ping-pong balls will bounce their way and turn this summer into a success by adding Scoot Henderson through the draft. If the pick is conveyed to Orlando, oh well, that was the agreement, and management can focus solely on free agency.
Ok I thought the bulls 1st rd pick was forfeited because of tampering
San Antonio need a break a little more than Bulls.
Its already too late for this topic.
If the Bulls wanted for a pick, that means they'll start to rebuild again, should have traded Demar,Lavine,Vooch,Lonzo,Caruso before the trade deadline for Picks and future assets.
Then play the rest of the season,
PG- AYO DOSUNMU
SG- COBY WHITE
SF- DALEN TERRY
PF- PATRICK WILLIAMS
C- MARKO SIMONOVIC
For Experience.j
Can we. 26 win is abit far for bottom 4.
It's the second season in a row where are "leaders" sit out meaningful regular season games to rest so they can play in the exhibition, all-star game. Furthermore, Debo took himself out with this hip shit and is sitting himself out of games.
Its not a good look and i dont want these kind of selfish dudes on the Bulls!!!!!!
They may ass well go for the draft pick.
He said, or should they take their foot off of the gas??? GAS? Looks to me like their foot has been on the brakes for the last 6 games.
They should shoot for the playoffs, that way they can get a top 5 draft pick.
I say that cause ion see them winning but draft position
Bulls should keep Coby in starting lineup and bench Ayo.
Tanking to keep our pick makes more sense. Going all out and risking injuries to our main guys isn't worth it. At this point we don't look like a team who is capable of winning back to back road games just to face the #1 seed and possibly upset them. IND/ORL own the tiebreaker against us so all we would have to do is lose the same amount of games and we end up in 5th. At 5th we have very good odds of being in the top 4. I think tanking is a no brainer.
As a Magic fan I would like to thanks the Bulls for Franz Wagner
I don't know anyone over 30 that watches the NBA.
Yes
No tanking; just rebuilding
A. The Bulls have been chastised for tanking, by Adam Silver, before. They're never going to come out and SAY that they are planning to tank. What else can AK say BUT "Our plan is to still make the playoffs."
B. Chicago is the league's third biggest market. They might actually give a wink and a nod to the Bulls tanking, given that both LA teams and at LEAST the Knicks are too. playoff viewership. Brooklyn isn't looking too shabby either, post-Kyrie. Chicago is letting the side down as far as big markets go; however,
C. Fans who ate eager to buy into the notion that the Bulls should just go into the tax for the hell of it (and insist the Bulls couldn't have signed and traded Zach without coming off as cheap) should also appreciate that, if the Bulls tank to take back their pick, openly, that's going to affect how much protection, if any, will be offered the Bula in future deals.
1 through 4 is LIGHT protection. Light. If the Bulls would do this with protection at 4, who's ever going to give them Top 8 or Top 10 protected swaps?
Tanking under these conditions is NOT a victimless crime, nor is it penalty free. Plus, even if the Bulls talk themselves into doing it anyway.
The ping pong balls are not public anymore. Expect the Bulls to pick fifth. Who really believes the Bulls just HAPPENED to get that lucky when Rose was coming out of Memphis?
