  1. MVP will mean nothing after Jokic wins it this season. We’ve had 4 of the top 5 worst MVPs in only the last 7 seasons. I thought 2017 was horrible but this Jokic nonsense is on another level

  2. I think Nikola Jokic has less of the voter fatigue issue because he spent the last two years being disrespected quite a bit (for a 2 time MVP) and is just generally not talked about as much. I think hearing less about him means people are less ‘fatigued’

  3. With kd gone nets is actually a good team for Russ trade Ben. That would actually make since for both teams Simmons fits Utah youth

  4. Hoops reference really doesn't like Jokic I guess lol. Every video is always something negative about Jokic and trying to shoehorn Embiid into conversations he has no business being in due to health

  5. Just saying "voter fatigue" without giving any other actual arguments is just being lazy. What happens is that players don't improve significally after they win MVP, they usually hit a plateau with the stats that got them MVP. Jokic on the other hand somehow has kept improving every year and keeps making new historical achievements.

Lebron didn't deserve it his third year because he joined a superteam and still wasn't able to get top seed with such a loaded squad. Also, people don't want to give Jokic a third MVP even if he clearly deserves it because "he hasn't won anything yet" but when Lebron had 2 MVPs he hadn't won anything either, besides getting swept in the finals, despite playing in the weaker East. Stop trying to penalize Jokic just because your guy wasn't able to get it done.

  6. The problem with your argument on MJ and lebron winning 3 mvps in a row is that MJ stats were not much different from any other year up to that point n Barkley had the number one team in the league n lebrons 3rd was his first year in Miami where his stats weren't as good as previous years n they got off to a bad start, jokic is averaging a triple-double as a center having a better stat line then his mvp seasons

  7. So, your only argument is, Jordan didn't won three in a row so Joker shouldn't either 🙄🙄. Pathetic..

  8. No he’s not afraid of anyone in the west and if he is why would he admit that he is? He’s fine in the west yes he yes he puts up his averages his team does up everything he said was true and he’s jus confident y’all gotta hop off this is getting old now

  9. Bruh y’all act like this mane was supposed to say “yea Idk where my team stands in the west” like bruh shut up. He got confidence in himself and his team. Y’all holding this over his head like he supposed to just be scared of any team. Then y’all talking about the Jordan comment. Like be fr so I guess he supposed to say “yea Jordan would give me buckets” shut up bruh.

  10. I agree with people viewing what he said as “cocky or disrespectful” but logically, it makes sense to not fear the West. They’re more accustomed to the teams they frequently play. As opposed to the East.

I could imagine most contenders having a thorough game plan for the teams in their conference. Because you never know who is going to make it to the finals. They probably finalize their game plans once they know exactly who they’re playing.

  11. You mean the Lakers instead of the Clippers? Clippers barely did anything besides dump off John Wall and Reggie Jackson.

  12. All y’all media are bored. People post about this team for a pull quote so they so they can use it for clickbait and enrage other fanbases. Honestly who cares that they trash talk, every team does, even the ones that aren’t good. Stop posting about the grizzlies for views, and talk about actually interesting nba news and info.

  13. It's no longer a story that the world is experiencing a global economic downturn I'm so happy that I've been receiving $40,000 from my $9,000 investments every 14 days.

  14. Man, the Hoops hate on Jokic is real. "Jordan and LBJ suffered from a flaw in the system (voter fatigue), so Jokic should suffer from it too".

Yeah man; let's never improve anything. If there was a problem 10 or 30 years ago, we should make sure future players also have to suffer from that problem rather than trying to do away with it. 🙄

Also, I love how the person who posted the take focused on defensive win share, rather than raw winshare – because Jokic is crushing Ante in overall winshare (11.3, to 6.4 – or, 1st vs 15th). I don't even know where he's getting his data from, because Giannis is 7th in DWS (2.9) vs Jokic in 9th with 2.7. Oh, he's just focusing on the win streak is he? I mean, if the season were just those 11 games I might be inclined to agree. 🙄

Overall winshare is usually a pretty good indicator as to who should win the MVP, and Jokic at 11.3 is 2.4 ahead of second (SGA on 8.9). If you look at his most likely rivals, Donci has 8.6 in 4th, Embiid has 8.1 in 5th and Tatum has 7.9 in 6th. Really, the main thing in Ante's favour is that they have had such a good winstreak, and he has been the biggest part of that, but I really hope they don't ignore the rest of the season.

Edit: had a look at all the stats since 09-10, and it looks like WS/48 (win share over 48 minutes) is the stat to look at when seeing who should be MVP. It's been correct for every season bar two – the LBJ "voter fatigue" season where Rose won, and 16-17 where Durant should have won, but it went to Westbrook (for a couple reasons I imagine – people hating Durant and the Warriors after the trade, Curry taking some of the spotlight off of how good a year Durant had, and Westbrook being given credit for carrying so much at OKC – although his WS and WS/48 were way lower than other candidates). On that note, Jokic is currently leading WS/48 this season with 0.318, ahead of Embiid on 0.246, and Giannis comes in at 16th with 0.197 (though it should be noted in the year that Westbrook won he was 10th with 0.224, and in the year Rose won he was 10th with 0.208), with both players being 5th in raw winshare. Right now Embiid is also 5th in raw WS (though 2nd, not 10th, in WS/48), so if I were a betting man I'd place about four units on Jokic (1.40 odds as I'm writing this post), and one unit on Embiid (6.50 odds).

  15. I call 🧢 on Lebron being snubbed in 2010-2011. Bron averaged near 2 more points than Rose, about 4 more boards(duh, he’s 6’9”) and averaged less assists. So the statement that his numbers were better across the board is already untrue.

Then there’s that little issue of him taking his talents to South Beach to play with Wade who was a top 4-5 player in the league at the time and Bosh who was top 12-15 range. Derrick Rose had no such help. Which is a huge part of that discussion. Something still playing a part with Jokic today. When you don’t have all-stars all throughout your roster, voters tend to give you more credit when you’re winning.

Which brings me to that last point on DRose. Guess which team finished with the better record in ‘10-‘11? Yeah, the Bulls. Rose was absolutely deserving. To call it a snub is just disingenuous.

  16. Westbrook should redirect his career in China like stephon Marbury and win a 🏆 Maybe even get a statue in his image the Chinese would love his ball dominant style of play

  17. About the suns. What the kd trade means to us is one thing. We have a new owner, and is willing to spend money draft picks assets in order to bring winning basketball to the valley. We are going for it and if it fails like it usually does, at least we went for it.

  18. Dog I hate doing this, but you are bitching so much… Yes awards do have unwritten rules to them. However, that doesn't mean all of them are good and should remain. If someone is the most valuable player they should be given MVP. It does not matter what happened in the past. RN the ladder in my opinion fairly clearly falls Jokic, Giannis, Embiid

  19. The advanced stats used on the Giannis case actually make Jokic's case better. He's 0.2 better than Jokic on DWS, while being 5.1 behind him on OWS, he's behind him on DBPM (by a long way) and 2 ahead on defensive rating while again being 20 behind on the offensive side, basically they all indicate that Giannis is slightly better in the area that he's ahead. I love Giannis as well but if that's the best case for him, it kind of just confirms why Jokic should win it again. I'd actually argue that Embiid and Doncic both have better cases than Giannis this year.

I'm not going to say that Jokic is a better defender but every single advanced stat actually says he's an elite defender, he's not the traditional center on defense but he's found a way to be as effective as those traditional defenders by all the unbiased advanced metrics. It's interesting how those stats work for every player that we eye test as an elite defender and yet for some reason we want to ignore them because of someone who does it differently. The guys either side of Jokic on DWS are Embiid and Claxton, who are both great defenders. The other guys at the top of DBPM are Caruso, JJJ, Giannis and Draymond. Like most of his game, it's unconventional but extremely effective.

And he's on another planet offensively to anyone. At the end of the day he's the best player, on the winningest team, putting up the best stats while missing the least games and has by far the biggest on/off discrepancy to support he has the weakest supporting cast and the highest level of reliance from his team. Really by every metric that has ever been used for MVP he should be winning it.

  20. Regarding "Voter Fatigue" I think people have realized how stupid it is however this is the strongest batch of MVP Candidates I can recall by far…
