Spencer Raxter and Sam Reynolds discuss whether the Detroit Pistons trading Saddiq Bey is a sign that their draft plan is not perfect. At this point I'm not sure what weaver is trying to do with this team
other than Killian. Weaver has done great drafting
when do we start blaming Dwayne Casey?? he came here as supposedly a savant at developing talent!!! he hasn't developed shit, the best players we have had every yr since he has been here has been FA or trades!!! basically players that were already what they are
Stewart was a !st round pick! He was selected just ahead of Bey, in the middle of the round! It was pick that Weaver purchased! while Bey came in off of, the Kennard trade to LAC. Hence, Stewart wasn't a 2nd round pick! I like the hosts, but sometimes they need to get the facts fully straight!
I NEVER t rust two no name, couch potato/geek looking 'sports analysts'….SMH
I haven’t lost faith I never had confidence in stew he’s just to small to not be able to shoot bey I thought would keep improving still might I think that was a good pick Hayes was my guy Lmao but yea he’s trash
If Weaver continues to ride with Casey then I have zero faith. This team is not grasping basic fundamentals. Boxing out, executing the fast breaks properly. Ball movement. Free throw shooting. Let’s not even discuss defensive assignments.
We do remember that Beef Stew was a first rounder right? He was the 16th overall pick. He can’t get credit for a depth player at that point. In front of the likes of Desmond Bane, Tyrese Maxey, and Poku. Not to mention he was drafted 3 picks before the guy you just got at least some value for Bey.
Stew was not a 2nd round pick. Get a clue.
I've lost all faith in Troy Weaver. He has gained zero draft capital. He sucks, and is a massive failure.
It's obvious by now that he doesn't know what he's doing.
Hitting on number one overall draft pick takes zero skill
I’m just as disappointed in where this Pistons team is at this point as everyone else but I’m going to wait one more year before I start pointing fingers. Weaver has had two years, are we forgetting what this roster looked like two years ago? Are we forgetting the salary cap hell we were in? This year has been a dumpster fire with the injuries and the youth trying to gel. That definitely set us back. Give me one more off season and maybe until midseason next year, then I think we can make a more accurate assertion. The one thing I am without a doubt ready for is to dismiss Casey as head coach. I have seen enough.
Since preseason I’ve been saying that Detroit needs to trade Bey amongst others. Dude may have dropped -50- last year but he’s too hot and 🥶
Troy is great! He traded Bey, because his mentality was not right. He cut dead weight! That's a skill.. Killian has progressed every yr. He has $ for players & he is aggressive, trading for young players. Look at where the Rockets are, the Bulls, Hornets, Spurs, Utah.. & he Will have a high draft this Yr. I like the Pistons direction over all these teams, I listed.
I just dont understand why we have Wiseman, Duren, Stewert, Bagley, Noel. I mean I get getting rid of Bey because of his mentality but could we have not traded Bey for more value? especially since he set a franchise record for your team. Like this is just a Big favored team and tbh im not big on Killian I kinda wanted him to be traded away cause when he has starting minutes he does well but on the bench he doesn't good and the bench role is going to be his role for every team in the NBA so he needs to be better at his playing with reduced minutes and I haven't seen that happen at all this season.
Jalen duren is going to be a stud….Weaver must stay whoever says he should be gone are probley children who didn't know the bad boys untill the 30 for 30
Thr problem with the NBA and I always thought this was the 1 and done rule …why in hell are these kids able to come out and they are not even at the defensive level they should be when they are drafted in the top 10-15 …its obvious that every team thT goes through a rebuild needs almost 5 years to become that good team that can compete I think its ruining the NBA they need to change that rule …let these kids devop for at least 3 years like the NFL
I’d lose more faith in him if he doesn’t fire Casey after this season more so than anyone he’s drafted. Casey has been a bigger flop than drafting Hayes was. He’s actually hot garbage
Projected Lineup PG Cade SG Ivey SF/SG Burks PF Boggy/Stewart PF/C Duran, Wiseman
The last two drafts have been good, outside of that.. horrible. We take other teams failed projects, meanwhile we're still working in our 7 yr project Hayes
The blind faith in Cade is wreckless. He hasn't proven anything except he can't stay healthy. Shooting percentages are bad, turnover rate is high, assists are low, and he will have spent most of his rookie contract injured.
1-2-3-4-5 breath out now everybody chill James wiseman haven't played yet dam …
You have to judge the draft by the players taken behind the ones you drafted, and his only mistake in his first draft so far has been taking Killian Hayes over Obi Toppin and Tyrese Haliburton, Isiah Stewart and Bey were good picks compared to the other choices you were picked behind them.
Troy Weaver has been given TOO MUCH CREDIT. I don't like his moves. GORES AND Weaver are lame duck owner and gm
Killian is a overseas prospect so we need to give him more time to grow. Imagine if the bucks gave up on Giannis in year 2
Weaver has drafted 10 players (Killian, Stew, Bey, Garza, Saben Lee, Cade, Livers, Ivey, Duren, Procida.) Six are still on the team, 3 are of what I consider the core, and the others could be solid bench players.
Weaver missed on trading Grant for 3 firsts, trading for Bol Bol, trading for Bagley, passing on drafting Desmond Bane, drafting Killian instead of Haliburton.
To me Drafting Cade, Ivey, and Duren are his saving graces. Cade and Ivey are no brainers, but the trade for Duren was perfect.
This upcoming draft is going to be a big draft and free agency, but the reality is that we need a new coach.
It will probably happen after Saddiq balls out in Atlanta but more likely to happen at the end of the year.
Our previous regimes have missed on so many things that it is always going to put a bad taste in everyone's mouths when we start seeing the "what could have beens".
Hopefully the Pistons trend up this time.
2020 was a horrible draft class.
Isaiah Stewart was 16th pick & Bey 19th & Killian 7th obviously these dudes don’t watch basketball will somebody get them the fuck out off this show if you agree with anything these idiots say stop talking basketball
Bey is off the Pistons, but replaced by Wiseman. So now you have to wait and see what Wiseman will be with the Pistons. Other than the 2020 draft, which for the entire league was bad, Weaver has made a ton of great moves for this Franchise. Cunningham, Ivey, Duren look great. Grant was a great FA pickup who he flipped for Duren. Bojan was a great trade pickup along with Burks. I still have 100% fatih in Troy. I do not expect perfection. When he sees his mistake then he will make a move to try and correct it.
I think you guys are discrediting Stewart too much. He’s still only 21 and he is obviously growing. Give Stewart more time and he will continue to grow. Also saying he is like a 2nd round pick is just wrong. Only 5% of picks past pick 40 in the draft even become rotational players in the NBA
I am beyond tittering, We have drafted at a high position 2 years in a row, this will be the third. We are no better than we were before we made those picks. Is this an eternal rebuild, or what? The question is not when can we start winning, but when can we start competing, and actually start playing defense? Which brings us to the coach, but I digress.
Beef stew was a 1st round pick. 16 overwll
What did you think a rebuild would look like. We had crap on this team, and you guys are overreacting. We didn't have a ton of picks and it takes time to build a great team.
This Trade sucks
Building a NBA team rarely bats a 1000 in the draft
The biggest problem with the Pistons is coaching flat out! Casey needs to be fired immediately. Once he is out of here we will see the fruit of Weaver’s labor flourish.
Wiseman is going to hault Duren's growth this season….pffft
That 2020 draft was horrible.. every player from that draft minus Melo and Anthony Edward's suck
What has Weaver done that’s so special? Cade and Ivey fell into his lap. Missed out on Haliburton because he preferred Killian. Saddiq didn’t pan out. Doesn’t trade Jerami Grant when his value was at its highest and it looks like he’s gonna make the same mistake with Bogdanovic. Still needs to prove he can hire an effective coach. I like how he got Duren, and Beef Stew is serviceable, but besides that I’m unimpressed. This rebuild is going way too slow, and we don’t even have outstanding draft capital to boot.
I think he's on a short leash because of his color but nobody talks about the Redwings GM who's been on the Job longer had more Drafts. And free agents signings.
