All signs point to this being a positive move for them tho

Dream scenario for us would be they hire a new coach, they sneak into the playoffs and go back to being a mediocre team next year.

The frustration might lead to Trae Young asking for a trade before next year’s deadline (a la Irving/Durant) and their standings making out picks go lottery for us.

If they end up with Quinn Snyder then it is bad news for us. I don’t think he is creative enough to make the DJM-Trae duo work offensively beyond just your turn-my turn – which limits how far they can ever go in the playoffs, but he is a much better coach than McMillan, and the group in Atlanta has enough talent that they should be a very good regular season team every year.

  4. Honestly I was hoping they would keep Nate because I think that’s what inadvertently helps us lol

2025-27 picks gonna convey great for us. No way Dejounte doesn’t leave ATL in 2024 and no way Trae doesn’t force his way out after next season too

Spurs asst. Mitch Johnson is under consideration for the job :/

  7. It’s interesting.. aside from the news about the Hawks, every time there’s discussion about a Spurs coach from the ‘Spurs coaching tree’ – it’s natural to ask what happens here?

We don’t know Pops timeline.. but there were reports or rumours last year that Synder could be a candidate to succeed Pop.

I don’t know about Mitch’s pedigree, but would we consider him capable of massaging us through this rebuild? Does he command the locker room? Perhaps with BB along his side, maybe.

I don’t know about Becky? Seems like she’s doing her own thing and rightly so.

Udoka? Solid history with the Spurs, but the same principles should apply to players and coaches, right?

Hopefully the owner cheaps out on the next hire. They weren’t willing to spend on Huerter, and prob had to pay a decent chunk of change for both Pierce and McMillian to get fired mid contract
