At this point why not. There’s no one else left and its not like we need someone to provide big minutes. I’m sure the Bus 1 Boys would super welcoming to him too.

  2. ambirdsall

Ahh yes, a twitter rumor about what the Celtics front office will do! Those have been so accurate you can set your watch by them lol.

(I do actually think this one is likely, but just because the basketball reasons make so much sense)

  3. Coco1520

People act like signing a guy will destroy the team, we could use another wing on nights someone is out hes the best guy left. HE WILL NOT BE PLAYING IN THE PLAYOFFS, its a good signing.

  4. doflamingo34

wasn’t he a locker room problem in denver?

  5. Pmaloney15

He had a few solid seasons with jokic. Always was a decent extra ball handler. There are worse options… he could help out with finishing the regular season strong

  6. I_Hate_Klutch_Sports

Keith Smith isn’t plugged in on this kinda stuff

  7. Out of the 3 realistic buyout guys. (Green and Ross being the others) he was the guy I wanted the least. But at the end of the day he would also be the 14th man so you really can’t complain. I wouldn’t mind Tony Snell either.

People need to realize the Celtics roster is stacked. Him playing in Denver and his stats/playstyle doesn’t matter. What matters is what he’s capable of. He’s not going to be playing hero ball on this team. For spot minutes, he would be a good addition

Eh, decent injury protection and regular season minute filler. But it’s so late in the season, I don’t think anyone we add will really matter. We’ll be down to max 9 guys when the playoffs start

Y’all know if they sign him and he sucks, Joe has no obligation to play him, right? Like there’s literally zero downside to this unless you can be convinced a veteran on a minimum would be capable of tearing apart the best locker room chemistry in the league. Lol.

  11. thatgreik

I’m fine with it if it doesn’t mess up our rotations or locker room. If he can provide a clutch 5-10 minute spurt at any point in the playoffs, it’s worth it.

  12. thereal_kphed

Nice. I know he’s been ass this year but he’s had some very credible seasons and isn’t old/broken down as far as I know. Could do far worse and brings different skills than Houser.

  13. Jamobill9999

Honestly, in terms of instant offense off the bench, he was the best option. And at the end of the day, none of the buy out guys realistically would be in the playoff rotation, unless they outplayed the 9th guy. People say he’s bad, and that nuggets fans hate him, but his role on the nuggets was much larger and he was relied upon to be a starter… that’s not the expectations here. He’d be signed to eat some regular season minutes

  14. I like him and thought he was one of the best options.

  15. GonzoTheGreat22

Imagine thinking a potential Barton deal is good OR bad… it’s neither. It’s barely a thing. All he needs to do is not poison the well and be ready to play in blowouts and back-to-backs. Nothing else matters here.

  16. JoJonesy

Idk man. On its face it makes sense but, like… it can’t be a coincidence that both of his former teams’ fans seem to fucking hate him

  17. ecclectic_collector

there are a few options. Will Barton is a solid veteran, but will probably only sign a one year deal. Or the Celtics could go with one of RJ Hampton, Stanley Johnson, Denzel Valentine, Tony Snell route where they could sign them to a 1 year deal with a team option so they could use that player as salary filler in a trade this summer like they did with Malik Fitts, Stauskas, Juwan Morgan last year.

  18. blobthetoasterstrood

I was hoping for tross or Danny green but barton will be fine for soaking up some regular season minutes at this point. I highly doubt he plays at all in the playoffs

  19. aja_ramirez

So long as he understands he may not get regular minutes

  20. ericdeben

A buyout isn’t gonna make or break the team, but I don’t see him as a fit. I’d rather Hauser continue to get minutes.

  21. slab_diaz

dont even know this guy’s playing style so I cant comment if he fits lol

but if the FO likes him, gotta just go with it

  22. doubtitslegit25

it’s will the thrill… c’mon guys, he’s not that bad. was a solid contributor on my fantasy team for a couple years lol

  23. GooseMay0

People in the comments really being fucking snobs over a 12th fucking man? I don’t care what his analytical stats are. He’s the 12th man. Most 12th men aren’t going to be great.

  24. dredgedskeleton

Will Barton can put up a lot of points fast. This would be a great tool to have if he’s playing to his ability.

  25. always_agitated

Him and Jaylen got into it at the game in Denver

  26. solarscopez

Denver hated this guy but for a deep bench guy I’m cool with it, whatever lets us rest our starters more.

  27. C4VEJOHNSON

Could be a decent addition for depth I suppose. Barton is a solid 3pt shooter, not so great FG% overall though. He seems to play about average defense based in defensive rating, but I’m not sure how good or bad he is in reality. Might as well sign the man, healthy veteran depth can never hurt. He could find a nice role on the team since he can simply do what suits him best on this roster and no one will be expecting to depend on him for needed scoring.

  28. HoorayPizzaDay

He was always good on the Nuggets, what am I missing?

  29. noviceProgrammer1

People have already forgotten the days of Semi getting consistent minutes

  30. KryptoKillah42069

I feel at this point, it’s either Barton or calling up a G leaguer for the playoffs (if that’s even possible) (snell, valetine, Shayok, samanic)

  31. Wellknown038

He not horrible honestly Barton balls beside he’ll be riding the pine anyways

  32. Lopsided-Mobile2197

Let’s go, this guy could be huge down the stretch of the season
