It’s a huge upgrade and he makes us noticeably better. Every game he’s made more than a handful of great plays that were just non-existent before he got here.

We’ve won games against low talent, so like I don’t know where that gets us. A first round exit? Might not be the worst to get Scottie some runs in the playoffs, but it seems foolhardy in the long-term.
But like most of us, I’m just an armchair GM so I don’t know a lot of things – I’m just waiting for the playoffs if we make it to see how our dudes come along under pressure, or the offseason to see how we dole out our salary to FVV, GT3, and Yak.

I don’t follow another sport besides basketball. I think the Raptors GM is the best GM I have ever seen . He single handedly dismantled the Nets this year. And the trades he makes are always in the raptors’ favor. I’m happy the raptors have him as their GM.

I still hate this trade, and I made a post saying we should expect to finish above 500 after we made this trade. Even if we went 21-5 to finish the season after the trade, our schedule was the lightest in the league and you cant really say we’re good til the playoffs. As much as I like Poeltl, I would’ve rather gotten a great talent in this draft and then S&T for Poeltl in the summer for exactly the same price, even if I still thought we overpaid.
You guys don’t understand, there’s at least 5 players in this draft that would completely change the ceiling of this franchise. Wemby, Scoot, B Miller, Anthony Black, Jarace Walker, Gradey Dick would all make our team soooooooo much better within a couple years, and if we’re drafting in the top 8 we’re guaranteed at least one of them.
The only way I view this as a legit W trade is if we win a playoff series this season, or at least go to 7 games. That would be valuable development and experience for our guys, so I can’t hate that idea, but even then… this team needs more top end talent. I just don’t think the ceiling for this team is anywhere near ECF or beyond, which is what I care most about. Scottie is gonna be a decent player but he’s not superstar quality, and same goes with Achiuwa and Gary. So what are we really doing here?
