Definitely a foul by the book, imo, but this is one type of play the refs are consistent with. They don’t call these fouls, except for a few really weird times every couple of seasons.
Had the team shot better from the FT line, it would’ve been a win. Players should focus on what’s within their control instead of complaining to the refs.

I really, really hate the foul game played when a team is winning. There needs to be a rule implemented saying “if the winning team commits a foul outside the three point line in the last minute of the game the losing team is allowed to shoot 3 free throws instead of two”.
Sure, it’s legal but man does it suck to watch foul after foul at the end.

If this was a normal last second play I’d say no foul, but the only counter to the foul game is shooting before the defender fouls you. So if you don’t call it there needs to be rule changes.

That’s a foul. If you flip the role and that was Lilliard they would 1000% call a foul for being undercut like that. Such bs and inconsistent reffing.

It’s a foul, doesn’t matter if it’s the 1st quarter or the last second of the game. The heave has nothing to do with it…. He went for the reach, missed, and impeded our player from advancing. Obviously nowhere near squared up to the ball handler.
By trying to argue context is the entire problem with reffing. Call the foul when it happens, don’t call it when it doesn’t happen. Pretty straight forward.

I really wish there was an independent reviewer that released full game reports of missed or wrong calls. The MLB you can see every umpires strike/ball call and the percentage they got right/wrong. The NBA L2M Report is a joke, it’s like police investigating police, nothing ever really comes of it and half the time they end up covering for the ref.

When Dame got that rip through in the first half I knew we were fucked. It was such a weak rip through. Like if you are a casual fan and heard that Dame scored 71 and tuned in and saw that you’d turn the tv right back off

Yea it was a bad call but the Magic also didn’t play this well. No timeouts left and 2 free throw attempts with 4 seconds to go. Intentional miss for the offensive rebound / putback should have been the move at that point instead of trying to depend on a foul getting called on a half court shot.

the most concerning part is when this leaks into the playoffs or high stakes regular season games, and not just between two teams outside the play in. hopefully they clean up their act before the playoffs start

Last two minute report said it’s a foul and it wasn’t called. So yeah refs decided not to call it aka they cheat. It also said it was a non shooting foul so we’d only get two shots, but still. F the refs and nba.
