  1. I love pop he can't leave us the day bro retires as a coach is going to be a sad day the guy is a san antonio legend but I think he extends his contract as well pop can't end his coaching career like this.

  2. yeah he wont leave with that high pick coming in hot plus enough money to snag a star in free agency

  3. He is staying. He is too important to the city of San Antonio and the Spurs organization to leave.

  4. The Pop convo again lol.
Dude Clan, you get triggered when people like me say Pop needs to retire from coaching the Spurs, but here we are again with the convo.
Straight up Pop needs to retire. Pop at this point is a development coach, he needs to step down and let a new coach come in and lead the team.

Pop is just holding the Spurs back from moving forward, they need a new identity as a team, they can't stay in Pop's system forever.

  5. I don’t necessarily think he’s convinced himself the young guys need him but he is the main focal point of the spurs culture. Also, the passing of his wife may also prolong his coaching career because what else would he do?

  6. Being the highest paid Head Coach in the WORLD is what keeps him going!!! I know someone who works for the bank he’s banked with and he’s gets 800k straight wired to him EVERY MONTH!!! yea the team is also what keeps him going but that money 😮‍💨

  7. I think Pop will be around for a few more years. He does not seem to be someone who does not finish what he started. This is a young team with a great foundation that will be getting the highest draft lottery pick in 26 yrs. I do not think Pop can walk away from that. Also, some of the coaches in recent times that have been rumored to replace Pop are not available at this time. I am speaking of Quin Synder, who was just hired by Atlanta and Kansas coach Bill Self, who is going through some health issues. There are coaches already on the Spur's staff that I think would do a good job but I do not think Pop is ready to step down.

  8. His wife past away a few years ago, if anything coaching the Spurs has helped him keep his mind busy.

  9. He's sticking around for at least 2 more years. I'd say depending on how the lottery goes. I believe he wants to build the team strong enough where he feels he can walk away and it will continue
