Here’s my whole take on this whole Powell/Wood fiasco:
Yes Wood miss rotations in the defensive end and just generally look clueless sometimes there. On the other hand Powell always makes the right decisions and guess what, it don’t fucking matter that he’s in the right spot cause opposing players score through him like butter with Powell’s t-rex arms. Wood on the other hand, would at least give a proper contest at the rim and would even block some shots (which he did often when he was starting and motivated).
So we agree they’re both not great options, and if for some reason the opposing team miss their shots and guess what, you gotta rebound the ball. Powell is absolutely terrible in rebounding. How are you going to play 25 mins and only get 3-4 rebounds a game, while spending most of your time below the rim? How the hell is a 6 foot Kyrie outrebounding you smh. Wood at the very least is a good rebounder. And WE HAVEN’T EVEN TALKED ABOUT OFFENSE WHERE POWELL IS INEPT.

1. Wood can’t start. His spacing is bad. His screens are shit. He’s not a respected threat rolling to the rim. We have Luka and Kyrie working on getting theirs in the 1st qtr. Adding Wood to the mix is too many chefs in the kitchen trying to cook.
2. Wood should definitely be averaging more minutes than Powell. By a lot.
3. He’s a microwave scorer. He helps keep the offense going when we get to the bench. Hypothetically, you throw Wood in the starting lineup and that leaves….. THJ as the top scorer off the bench. Yikes 😬. I know he’s hot right now, but we all know how that can turn, and it’s ugly when it does.
4. Closing lineup will be Luka/Kai/Reggie/Green/Maxi. IF (When??) Wood gets that effort back on D again you might maybe, *MAYBE* see a Green/Maxi/Wood front court. Spacing don’t mean shit in the fourth. It’s all iso anyway, and Wood cooks in the iso game.

Luka+Wood+Green has the best net rating in the whole team and that lineup actually has decent sample size

All those positive stats yet we still lost 8 or 9 out of the last 12 games so who gives fck anymore for those stats …start wood at the 4 and maxi at the 5 …powell shouldnt be playing more than 10 mins a game.

Wood barely even played after ASB when they got Kyrie, but ok Nick whatever keeps your job.

I don’t think, looking the last games results, Kids should privilege Powell over Wood. I like Wood, defensively I think is better than DP. On the other side of the court, is the contrary. Not an easy decision. But as good is DP attacking, is Wood’s defense.
