ORL Magic have only made more 3PT shots than their opponent in 18 out of 69 games this season thus far
ORL faces the laborious task of outscoring opponents w/ a higher volume of lower-value shots, as they turn into this final 13 game stretch with their play-in hopes fading

The team needs shooting markelle, Wagner and Paulo are all good players in their own right but 3 point shooting is a struggle for each of them in their own way we need a guy at the 2 and 5 who are both knockdown shooters to open the floor up for these 3 to operate or we are betting on 1 of these 3 being able to develop a consistent 3 ball I’m more a fan of the former, however finding a solid floor spacing 5 who isn’t a complete siv on defense is quite hard and Paulo is very unlikely to be anything more then average on defense just because he doesn’t have the physical tools to be better.
It’s an interesting spot we have the best young core in the league but getting them to all fit and play winning basketball is gonna be a whole other task entirely.
We do let teams shoot a very large amount of 3s. We are okay at defending them because of our length, but just the numbers game of them shooting more 3s means sometimes we are at the mercy of big nights.
This isn’t a unique way to guard, many teams do it in the NBA (However, they attempt to shoot just as many, we don’t… rightly so, we don’t have the shooters).
Our biggest problem is, if we attempted to guard the 3 point line our interior defense would seriously suffer. Until we get guys like Bol out the rotation, we have to continue playing this way. Length is great in theory, but unless they are like JI they can’t stay in front of their man.
If we are going to compete with the roster makeup we have, we have to play more honest defense and that is going to require a few tweaks in defensive gameplans + rotations.
Teams like Cleveland do a lot of chasing off the 3pt line, so that defenders are funneled into their rim protectors. I’m not sure we have the personnel to be chasing shooters off no matter what.
