Michael Pina, who has an MVP vote, says Nikola Jokic’s defense is “underrated and misunderstood”.

>Jokic is a once-in-a-lifetime basketball phenomenon. As a back-to-back MVP who would probably win the award a couple more times if it were decided by voter-fatigue-proof robots instead of narrative-seeking human beings, he’s straight up, without equivocation, the best player on the planet.
>
>A hyperefficient scorer who makes everyone around him (at least) 15 percent better, Jokic is Denver’s compass. He humbles opposing big men with ox-like strength, then dismantles help defenders as they offer support with passes that transcend anticipation. With his back to the basket and his neck bent just enough to see the entire court, he detects what others can’t until the following morning’s film session.
>
>The sport has never seen anyone like Jokic. He’s an unconventional combination of grace, mystique, and persistent motion. The only box left to check will come in the playoffs, when his (underrated and misunderstood) defense will be tested by teams that wrap half their gameplan around trying to exhaust and expose him in space. But so long as his top teammates are healthy, that strategy is likely to be a shallow one.

Never forget Justin Verrier suggesting the Sixers trade Embiid for Montrezl, Shamet, Mo Harkless, and future first during the 2020 offseason. THE RINGER CAN BLOW ME

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Jokic. His play is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of advance analytics most of his plays will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Jokic’s incredible vision, which is deftly woven into his playstyle- his personal playstyle as a center draws heavily from a typical guards mindset, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of his playstyle, to realize that they’re not just normal- they’re plays deep about the real game of basketball. As a consequence people who dislike Jokic truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the nuance in Jokic’s movement on the court similar to the plays run in the Euroleague. I’m smirking right now imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Jokic’s genius play unfolds itself right on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

Can’t tell if Pina wants him to win MVP or for Jokic to sleep with his wife. Either way Pina sucks, so glad he left Open Floor Podcast. He would act like a big baby whenever anyone pushed back on his Boston media mafia takes or dare said a negative thing about Jokic

It is underrated, because instead of “terrible”, it is just pretty bad.

It is “misunderstood”, because the actual result is very different from what an excel sheet says

As a gay man, I can confirm that this is the gayest thing ever written.

This reads like erotica.. I thought it was a joke at first from a Nuggets fan. Isn’t Pina an NBA writer from Boston?

Good thing he typed this out. It’d be hard to understand him with Jokic’s dick in his mouth
