[Kevin O’Connor] Here are my NBA MVP rankings with four weeks remaining. Giannis stays at #1 for now. But Embiid shifts to #2 ahead of Jokic. It’s still a 3-man race.

What would you change?

  1. What has it been, 5 straight years of these three at the top?

  2. nowhathappenedwas

The Sixers fans will realize at some point that the arguments they make for Embiid over Jokic (advanced metrics don’t matter, efficiency doesn’t matter, past playoff performance matters) all undermine their argument for Embiid over Giannis.

Looks good to me. I’ve always thought it should be giannis this whole time šŸ¤·

This is literally like when the Bernie Sanders people spent months and months attacking Pete Buttigieg only for Biden to be the one they never saw coming.

Between these three, whoever misses the least amount of games the remainder of the season will win the MVP. I’m assuming they’ll all perform, they’re all leading really good teams, it’s gonna come down to games played.

The run and dunk man will win his third mvp. Basketball is dead

  7. Just like Julius Casear wanted to expand the number of senators. I think we should expand the number of MVP voters.

  8. Rithgarth

Just give it to poor Embiid so the 76ers fans will shut up about it.

Giannis is having a down year anyway

(Granted its still one of the best seasons on record but whatever)

I’m not even going to talk about the rankings, but why does Tatum look like the star of an ABC sitcom

  10. Uneducated_Leftist

I think it’s gonna be Embiid just because this “race” has all the hallmarks of the guy who hasn’t gotten one gets it.

Credit to the media though. They are really milking Sixers and Nuggets fans for all their worth. Meanwhile Bucks fans are like yah no shit our dude is an MVP.

  11. DominoAxelrod

Can we just give this one to Embiid so we can not have this argument next year?

  12. First time Iā€™ve seen anyone put giannis at 1

  13. NuclearEvo24

Kevin just wanted to be liked so he put Jokic third

  14. jfrodriguez1983

People have been arguing Jokic vs Embiid so much, it would be funny if Giannis swopped in and took it.

  15. junkit33

No complaints, 1-3 is close to a toss up and will be decided by the last dozen games but I’d also put Giannis #1 right now. Tatum/Luka are pretty much locked into the 4/5 spots in either direction.

  16. Competitive_Quiet179

I would be shocked if they give Giannis an MVP having missed 15+ games

  17. theodros1

Embiid busted Giannis without Harden earlier in the year and he hit game winner* like a week ago, dominating Giannis on defense too.

  18. Jokic really got voter fatigue not from winning the MVP twice, but because everyone wouldnā€™t shut up about him for like one month.

    Run and Dunk Man supremacy

It’s pretty annoying that these sports writer blowhards get to decide who wins the Most Valuable Player

  20. MumenriderPaulReed69

Give it to Embiid you Boston Sports writers

After getting the Giannis treatment up and close this week I canā€™t see how heā€™s not the best in the game right now. Iā€™m not in love with his play style, but the dude is unstoppable and a force on defense. Embiid and Jokic are outrageous talents too, but Giannis is still on another level above.

  22. 1990feels

The Bucks are an ECF threat *without* Giannis. The shit are these people smoking.

  23. aerospacemann

I love Giannis but with the amount of games missed, he should be a solid #3 choice.

  24. As soon as it seems Embiid has narrowly climbed over the Jokic ladder, now Giannis the MVP people are sayingā€¦ Embiid canā€™t catch a break lol

Joel deserves it man, heā€™s played better than Giannis this year. Giannis is shooting like 28% from 3 and 65% from the line. Joel is leading the league in scoring doing it more efficiently. He also doesnā€™t have Jrue holiday and Brook Lopez helping him out on defense

  25. Honestly, with the way Embiid has been playing lately, I wouldnā€™t even mind if he was at the top spot. But I agree with it being between him and Giannis.

  26. PR is working overtime to dethrone Jokić. Frankly I’m surprised he is still on the list.

Anyway I hope Jokić wins next 3 MVPs. Fuck them haters.
