    – Privately the Wolves have believed for a while that they do not get the same calls as other teams or star players

    – Gobert mentions that what gets people angry is when they are not treated with integrity

    – Finch called the refereeing “A little unbalanced”

    – The Wolves must understand that ther complaints may be hurting their whistles. The coaching staff are very vocal in complaining, as is KAT and Edwards – who is 2 techs away from a suspension

    – The Wolves have a reputation now as an argumentative team. Leading the league in techs, flagrant fouls and ejections – whilst some are undeserved it suggests the Wolves lack the ability to maintain composure

    – This was one reason to bring in Conley who is known to keep his composure and has yet to receive a tech in his career

    – Whilst the game will be defined by the Mazzula missed tech and the faulty jump ball, the Wolves had their chances to win beforehand. They had shot poorly and the free throw shooting is hurting them

When you have a group of people with one way enforcement power, it’s always going to turn to shit. Every degree of enforcement power has to be matched by an equal degree of third party oversight.

It’s very clear that the NBA officials operate on an organizational-wide philosophy that this is just how it is, and that there’s nothing that needs to be changed. That absentee landlord of a commissioner hasn’t said a word about it, so nothing changes. No oversight from anywhere.

It may be unpopular, but I think the call that cost us the game was the flagrant on Gobert. To me, he was going for the ball and happened to swipe his face. It was a basketball play. If that was the Celtics, that wouldn’t have been a flagrant.

Everyone has been up Kat’s ass for years about complaining to the refs. However, the reason he does it has always been that he doesn’t get the same calls as other teams. That’s the same issue here. The wolves should be “more composed” when they are consistently getting screwed over or they will get screwed over more consistently? It’s circular logic.

I’m so fucking sick of our media protecting the league and the refs over our own team.

No other market, let me repeat this because I can state it with authority, no other market has a media that is so hostile to their own teams and players.

Besides the Twin Cities, I have lived in L.A., San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and now Boston. The media in those markets are always complaining about the refs, always complaining about how their teams are unfairly treated (which is super ironic considering they are coastal metros that have teams the respective leagues favor).

I have always found it super bizarre how uncharitable Twin Cities media is. Outside of Paul Allen on KFAN, all of the hosts are neutral at best on the sports teams in Minnesota, some are actively wishing for their failings.

These takes by the Timberwolves beat writers is so fucking lame I can no longer stand it. I get that they are not supposed to be fans of the team — trust me, I get this. But that doesn’t prevent media in all the other markets from standing up for their teams.

This holier than thou posturing from our media guys fucking sucks and I am beginning to think they are the common denominator for why our teams historically never get a friendly whistle.

This take, “Oh, the Wolves are seen as whiners and don’t have a rapport with the refs,” is so asinine it is crazy. Every team fucking argues with the refs. The difference is we don’t have a media that will push back against the league when we are unfairly treated.

The fucking NBA refs came out and apologized for missed calls in a Lakers-Celtics game this season. Why do you think they did that? Because the media in LA told their audience that it’s the Lakers fault for not cozying up to the refs? No!!!!!!! It’s because the media and the fanbase were loud and in unison in their outrage.

Most of the people in this sub probably think I am being hysterical, but if you ever lived in other sports markets you would understand where I am coming from. It is literally night and day difference between how our media handles this issue compared to other media markets.

I am so done with the patronizing and the dismissiveness from our media members. Fuck them

  6. I wish our fans were more hostile to the refs.

They deserved a beer thrown at them last night.

  7. Question is, when does it change? How do the Wolves do something about it?

I have been a casual Wolves fan for over 20 years and knew the fix was in back in 04′ when we played the Lakers in the playoffs. Turns out that was happening, a fact. Other than the Twolves, I haven’t watched any other NBA games because of it.

Where do we go from here? The national media barely talk about it, how is the officiating ever going to change for us?

By saying the wolves are “hurting their own whistles” (which I think is complete and utter BS, but beside this point) is saying that the refs cannot be objective and are going into the games with an intrinsic bias. How hard is this to see?

  9. I can’t even watch basketball anymore because the reffing is so horrible and makes for a completely miserable and boring experience. Any person with eyes can see the Wolves don’t get the same treatment as most other teams.

I don’t fucking give a shit if the team is argumentative. That should not affect their whistles and that is the dumbest fucking thing in the world. If there was a fool committed it needs to be fucking called end of story. I don’t give a shit about pedigree or anything. If LeBron fouls out he fouls out. This sport is in a place of ruin.

If the NBA was not corrupt they would work to restore confidence.

    Instead they gaslight us.

I truly believe there is an organized crime connection to this league.

I think I may have to move over to the NHL.

I think I’m going on strike with the NBA.

Last year’s playoffs were terrible but it’s getting worse.

I have no faith in the integrity of the game.

I watch all 5 major sports and I have faith in the other 4.
