The Knicks success since 2023 began and trading for Josh Hart, plus Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson, and Immanuel Quickley all going off, it’s a valid question… Are the New York Knicks really NBA championship contenders? Fans of the #NBA and #basketball in general can’t help but take notice of the team’s potential. Julius Randle’s worth paying attention to, as isJalen Brunson’s 28 PPG and Immanuel Quickley’s all-defense level of play and highlights.

  1. I’m barely older than you Rusty and I vividly remember when only the people who could actually shoot the ball, shot 😅 at least for 3’s.

  2. the Knicks aren’t contenders. they need to make big moves next season. idk what that would look like, but that would be the only way for them to be contenders. they could most likely get Damien Lillard.

  3. Maybe not contenders but they could make the Cavs sweat maybe even win that particular series. At this point Knicks fans should hope to at least be a tough out.

  4. I think one superstar would make the Knicks contenders. I don't know who that would be, but they only need one.

  5. I'm just happy with the improvement, we're not contenders nor should we be yet after last season but we're moving in the right direction which is all I can ask for

  6. They give me Toronto vibes with Lowry and Derozan. They were a really good regular season team, but they can't do sht in the playoffs. The main reason is, like the Raptors, their 2 best players are both #2 options at best. They need a true #1 option, hypercarry type player to put them over the top.

  7. I totally agree with quick and hart being the only guaranteed trustworthy bench pieces in the playoffs but I think Hartenstein could potentially be a huge help. He’s been incredibly adaptable this season. He was visibly uncomfortable at the start of the year but ever since that game against the cavs (and the new year) he has been really confident and productive in his niche which recently has become way more clearly defined.

  8. See you changed that ridiculous title haha. They've got a good foundation to build on to become a future contender

  9. Knicks bench is a strong suit… McBride is an elite defender, and his offense is coming around. Basically a Marcus Smart off the bench… then two massive pieces with IQ&Hart, then Obi and Hartenstein bring their strengths and don’t hurt the Knicks. IQ & Hart are elite bench pieces most wish they had as starters.

When you look at pros and cons, Knicks bench is a huge pro.

You gave the Knicks massive credit , just thought you should get the whole picture right here.

It’s nice that the Knicks are getting positive input. Love it

  10. Very vague video on the Knicks Rusty. Felt like you haven’t taken the time to research for this video. iHart has been our best center since the ASB (check the numbers + tape) and we have an elite POA defender in McBride off the bench (who gave Dame problems and many others). Not to mention our bench unit utilizes pace more than the starters. It just feels like you left a lot to be desired. No shade. Just my opinion.

  11. They're playing similarly to the way the Mavs played last year. Makes you wonder who was the most influential player of that side in the playoffs…

  12. As a huge Knick Fan, I can tell you that we don’t expect to be a contender. We do expect to get out the first round and be competitive in the second round. Maybe even going seven if we play the Celtics or The Sixers, and hope not to get swept if we play the Bucks. I do think leaving out Hartenstein off the bench was a mistake by you

  13. Bro stick to teams you know. The Knicks are one of the deepest teams in the league and our bench scores on the higher end they are typically the reason we win games our starters play to a stalemate and the bench kicks the other teams teeth in.

  14. I wouldnt be surprised if the knicks managed to make it to the conference finals however i dont think they will make it to the finals

  15. What’s going to be fun to watch is who’s gonna guard Mitchell if they play the cavs when they’re both on the floor, quickley or grimes. The other will get garland but I’m still curious

  16. I agree that this season there is a surprisingly high amount of contenders, but let’s chill for a moment here. The Knicks are proving themselves very worthy of a playoff seed (which nowadays with the introduction of the play-in is more praise than in the past since we are talking about 6 teams instead of 8), but contention is in another level.

  17. Rj has been shit on defense, iq is the best defensive piece along side grimes in the rotation.

Randle shotchart is either around the paint or shooting threes, he only shoot midrange jumper when no brunson or other creator like iq on the floor (very very rare).

If the shooting is on fire, rj slashing to the rim is unguardable, but his jumper esp 3pt is shit.

The depth is actually what makes this team good enough, no star talent, but decent enough all around. Can plug and play a lot of players even outside the rotation. Drose could be unleashed comes playoff if needed more rim penetration and less defense, need more offense and 3pt shooting unleash fournier. Need more defense unleash mcbride. But no legit 2 way all star caliber players.

But all that depth wont matter if the coach not adjusting, so still doomed and not a contender.

  18. Knicks expectations are to win a playoff series and be a tough out. But we can go on a hot streak in the playoffs and reach the ecf. Brunson should be MIP this year. Goo Knicks 🎉
