I havent seen a player progress so much defensively in one season – maybe ever.

At the start of the season he was a liability. 1.5 months ago he was playing with a ton of effort but making a ton of mistakes on ball. Today he looks like our 4th best defender across the board. That’s an absurd level of growth, and I think it points to having stability for the first time in his career since he was 23 years old. It also points to JB’s coaching as well as the culture of this team.

Not to mention hes shooting 38% from 3 this year which is a career high, AND he isn’t a black hole on offense anymore. Even when he does iso, he is making badass passes all over the court.

Never thought I’d say it, but I’m starting to REALLY like him. He could be 6th man next year.

Popped it into a spreadsheet just to get the numbers, and in the month of march:

    Stat | Fig
    —|—
    Min | 30.44
    Shooting % | 49.46
    3Pt % | 46.67
    FT % | 73.68
    Reb/Game | 4.11
    Asst/Game | 3.89
    Block/Game | 0.67
    Steal/Game | 1.78
    PPG | 14.11

You can tell JB had a talk with him. He’s not taking those ridiculous off balance mid range shots as often anymore. He was struggling for a while there in his new role but he seems to be getting the hang of it. Even when he doesn’t score he’s such a good passer and defensive hustler that it works. This is why we have so many paint points. Because we have so many dudes that can beat guys off the dribble and hand it off in the paint.

  4. When Koby says he wants stability, Caris says stability. He’s probably, BY FAR, the 5th best option on any team..and he’s getting better!

Leverk? We’re talking about Leverk, right? Let me ask which of those games where he hit big numbers were a win vs. a top team or not a scrub. I’ll wait…

I’m really down on him, always have been, always will be, but he’s been good. He’s a decent playmaker and defender, and his shot has been going in. It’s been great.

He’s still a weird fit on this team and I sincerely hope that this little stretch doesn’t lead to the Cavs overpaying him! As we saw with Tobias Harris, a bad resigning can lead to years of you trying to get rid of that contract and not being able to.

Cavs are in the Bird rights trap with LeVert, but I hope they stick with a 1 or 1+1 deal.

His drives to the basket are unstoppable 1on1 too

Haters still gone hate. I’m happy he’s really improved.

I just tweeted how well he’s been playing as of recently! Especially defensively! If he is able to keep playing like this he is going to be a huge piece for the playoffs

He’s really making it tough to move on from him next season. I think he’s playing his way to a new contract, and as long as we don’t give him too much I’d bs happy with that.
