The next three games could decide the Brooklyn Nets playoff picture

The Nets enter a critical section of their season with the next three games against the Cleveland Cavaliers twice and then the Miami Heat. It’s a crucial stretch for their playoff chances. For starters there’s still an outside chance of catching the Cavs for the 4 seed (unlikely). But more importantly, they need to hold off the Heat in order to avoid the Eastern Conference play-in game.

The Locked on Nets guys break down the different scenarios for Mikal Bridges and company as they enter these final 11 games and what the rest of the week could tell us about the Nets’ season.

  1. Can’t just lose. The playoffs will help for his team grow and learn more. Need to see Bridges as the number 1 against playoff defense, Jacque Vaughn in playoffs, building chemistry, etc. Also need to show other players around the league that this is a team I might want to come play with.

  2. I agree right now the most predictable thing about the Nets is that they are unpredictable. Still would predict they end up as the 6th seed. Would love to see them reach the 5th seed though and avoid those top 3 teams. The remainder of this regular season is going to be interesting.

  3. As for the rest of the season…I’m just taking it one game at a time. My ultimate expectations are low in the sense that I don’t see the Nets making it out of the 1st round of the playoffs if they get there. It would be nice to see them in the first round and apply tenacious defense. I’m already thinking about the off season. What do they do with their draft picks? What becomes of Ben Simmons? Who will get traded? What star player (s) will they target? What will their lineup look like at the start of next season?

  4. Good comments here, but as you all know, it's not always such with the nets. After everything they've been through, and considering how much talent they have, I hope the will fans will be more consistent with their support AND more mindful of their comments. There has been a tendency in the past (possibly a natural response to significant drama for some ppl) to yo yo back and forth between 'yay' and 'oh shit' way too much and way too fast. Just suggesting we get the word out to be more positive and SPEAK more positively online (as you have here) from here on out. Sometimes what I intend as psychological advocacy comes off wrong, so I can improve as well.

  5. I kind of feel like the season was already decided when KD left. The team is going no where and you are either in the camp that wants to get to the off season right away and miss the playoffs Or the camp that wants to see one of the big dogs embarrass the nets with a potential two straight years of being swept.

All roads lead to the same outcome one is just a little longer and a little more painful to watch. Haha

Truth is there are really on two true players Clax and Bridges this franchise should be married to and everyone else should be trade fodder for future assets. I’d add Din to that group simply because he is the only two way point guard on the roster making him very valuable unless you find a legit replacement. Team is pretty bad when Din is off the floor. So watching JV run Claxton and Bridges down to the nothing seems pointless but JV will do JV things.
