Doc Rivers: “I thought (Embiid) was the MVP last year, but…can we stop trying to put people down? We should be celebrating our guys in the league. Giannis, Jayson Tatum, Joker, all of them are great. We don’t need to push one down to elevate the other guy.”

> “I thought he (Embiid) was the MVP last year, but I wanna make a point,” Rivers began. “Can we stop trying to put people down? We should be celebrating our guys in the league. Giannis, Jayson Tatum, Joker, all of them are great. We don’t need to push one down to elevate the other guy. They all are completely different players. They are.”

> “Joel, in my opinion, is the best of that, and I don’t think anyone needs me to campaign for him,” Rivers continued. “I think the proof is in the pudding. Having said that, I respect all of them. I don’t know what’s going on lately, it just seems like to validate one, you have to push down the other guy. No, you don’t. They’re all great.”

> “There’s nothing wrong with saying that, and in my opinion, Joel is the best of that group,” Rivers finished. “That’s not putting down anyone. We need to stop this stuff that’s going on right now.”

Giannis JT and Joker aren’t in Philadelphia so how would they be the most valuable Philadelphian Doc?

God this guy is a moron

  5. Raptorsthrowaway1

    Well said.

Will Philly fans want to fire him more after this?

  6. Brady331

He said Jokic’s name last which means he thinks he’s the least deserving of the 4 !!

Come on Doc, we can’t be having reasonable takes. This is the nba.

Boston media mafia forced Doc to mention Tatum

“We should be celebrating our guys in the league. Unless we exit the playoffs early and my job is on the line, then the bus needs a sacrifice.”

  10. TruthSayerFu

Why did he put Tatum in with those names lol

Y’all have no idea how much it moves my soul with Tatum in all these quotes. Even though he’s been shit for a month now 💀

Doc: We don’t need to push one down to elevate the other guy

R/NBA proceeds to do nothing but put Doc Rivers down

I specifically avoid ragging on Giannis and Embiid. I love watching them both play. Watching other fans rag on Jokic, and watching Nuggs fans rag on the other two is annoying. Really annoying.

It seems like no one can pronounce Jokic

“We should also celebrate the many accomplished and competent coaches in our league, and refrain from slandering these individuals” added Rivers.

Doc is discretely asking people to stop talking about his 3-1 problem

Winning matters a lot for the MVP, way more than this sub wants to acknowledge. Here’s the top 3 finishers in MVP from the past 5 years.

In 2017/18, Harden had 59 wins, Lebron had 50 and Anthony Davis had 45. Harden won MVP

In 2018/19, Giannis had 56 wins, Harden had 51, Paul George had 46. Giannis won MVP

In 2019/20, Giannis had 51 wins, Lebron had 50 and Harden had 43. Giannis won MVP

In 2020/21, Jokic had 47 wins, Embiid had 39 and Curry had 37. Jokic won MVP (Giannis had 40 wins for those wondering why he didn’t win 3 MVPs in a row)

In 2021/22, Jokic had 46 wins. Giannis and Embiid had 45. Jokic won MVP

The regular season is 82 games. That number doesn’t change just because all these guys are load managing. If you contribute less wins to your team, you are less valuable plain and simple. Want to know why Giannis didn’t 3peat? JUST LOOK. He won 7 less games for his team than Jokic did in 2020/21. Of course he didn’t win MVP that year, he didn’t win his team as many games as Jokic did.

But this year? Right now, Jokic has 45 wins, Giannis has 42 wins, and Embiid has 39 wins. Jokic has 3 more wins than Giannis and 6 more wins than Embiid. Jokic is literally *MORE VALUABLE* than either of them in the win column, before we even get into the player’s stats (Jokic averaging a 70% TS 25ppg triple double is easily MVP worthy anyway). We’ll see if the voters stick to their historical precedent or if they change the rules this year to not give it to Jokic

Isn’t docs whole thing pushing one guy under the bus for a loss?
