I hope that if we do trade JC we send him to a team like Indiana. They have a great pg, a stretch five, and a big hole at pf right now. He could thrive there.

  2. peeinherbut

Let another no name bum have a career night against us but at least we got the W

  3. SnowflakeScum

Couldn’t watch. Did Trae get hurt or was he just cold? Only 20 min is odd

  4. One game under .500 hawks needs a documentary

  5. YeeezusWept

We honestly have a case for best bench unit in the league

  6. ahend1999

if nets lose today and we win tomorrow…we could possibly be 7th seed still

  7. travel_p

Our starting guards need to start making their 3s. I actually like Aaron holiday because he plays good defense. If only he can make his 3s more consistently. Also, I don’t understand what is happening to Trae. The past two years he has been constantly crying to the refs. He didn’t do that early in his career. But every game, he is constantly crying which is so annoying. Just play ball! The refs aren’t going to change.

  8. childishgames

Grizzlies are lucky they aren’t facing us at 1 game under .500

  9. thestallion11

Always happy to see a win so not gonna criticise us too much but man this defense is getting worse and worse every game

  10. blingera

would do unspeakable things for a win tomorrow

  11. EuroStepJam

Nwora was a worthy rival but the spirit of one-under Hawks possessed Garrison Mathews to seal the win

GARY BIRD SAID “ITS A PARADE INSIDE MY CITY YEAH!!!”

  13. Shade_Raven

Hox are so used to hiding their defense with slow pace and low turnovers , with the increased pace that shit is getting exposed

  14. D_DabMan

Our midness will simply not allow us to lose this game no matter what. Expect us to lose comfortably tomorrow and get back to the destined 0.500

  15. Boraismybae

Aaron Holiday absolutely killed it tonight. Absolute dawg on defense and he played within his role on offense. Dude is probably our best perimeter defender. Damn shame he just doesnt have the size or length to guard big wings

  16. Starstoolborts

Being so close to the court is quite honestly jarring

  17. FatAlEinstein

Can we pretend this was a strategic ejection on the front end of a back to back? Trae should be fresh tomorrow at least.

  18. Gater2020

Oh look, we win..The sub is back to being nice

Bench showed out tonight. Their three point shooting saved us.

OO had a man’s game. Incredibly efficient. Really appreciate his touch around the rim. If he develops into even a 30% 3 point shooter… elite defense and offense all around. He’s had a nice run for several games now.

AJ—great game in my opinion. Efficient shooting, decent defense. Still made some rookie plays but looked like he belonged getting serious minutes eventually. Can’t wait to see him develop.

JC—the spacing with his 3% still hurt us some possessions, but his passion is undeniable. Great defense, and found his shot near the rim tonight picking on smaller defenders. Good, efficient game. Found a bit of a passing connection with Clint. It looked like something they were intentionally targeting for a minute there, and I liked what I saw.

DJ— I’ll harp on him the same way I have Trae: he has to improve his efficiency if we’re going to win. One of our stars can’t shoot 8-20 on the regular, and he’s had a rough, rough stretch recently. Real rough. His 3 being off is hurting our spacing. It showed on some possessions tonight. That said it’s hard to say he had a “bad” game; he distributed the ball well tonight with 12 assists to 1(!) turnover and started to get downhill when the shot wasn’t falling. Ended with a double double. Decent defense and helped us stay in the game. Other than the spacing and shot selection, I liked what I saw.

Trae—was having a great game until he committed an (obvious) offensive foul, pouted, then threw the ball at the red so hard Bob called him out for it on air. Weak to eject him on the first tech? 100 percent. Should our start guard be more mature? 100 percent. Stop. Foul hunting. The leg kick on the three is just disgusting to me. Idc if they call it or not; you flail around on 3 point attempts from deep, they’re not good shots. It was a shame too because he was shooting pretty efficient from the field tonight and on track to have a good game. Hopefully he can carry the momentum from the first half to the next game.

Bey—this trade is turning out into something great for us. We desperately needed three point shooting, and Bey has provided it in buckets. Not the best defender, but he always is hustling. Really like how he crashes the glass even if it doesn’t always result in great numbers of boards.

Bogi—good game. Big dunk to show us his legs are (more or less) fine, good shooting at 50 percent. Didn’t put up huge numbers, but did enough.

Matthews—red. Hot. That’s it for tonight. His threes sparked a run that won us the game. Good hustle, but poor defense more often than not (though that’s true for almost all our guards/wings). That 3 point percentage is something we still need. Might have made a case for a few minutes on the floor the next few games to see how he slots into our rotation.

Capela— big on the boards (as he almost always is) good defense, and great with the lobs. He did what we need him to do, and he’s good at it. Always appreciate his effort.

    A. Holiday— honestly a good game. Nailing the threes helped to settle us into a rhythm after Trae was expelled. I honestly like A. Holiday for these sparse minutes; he’s not someone you want to rely on for 20+ mins a game, but he can get hot for when you need a spark off the bench.

This is the game that made me believe. God damn did it make me believe. I didn’t watch it, but if I did I’d be saying the same thing. Game one of any series is basically( and statistically) game 7 of the NBA finals.
I have no doubt they will be ready.

  21. One time for Capela’s free throw shooting!

  22. Your Hawks beat the Indiana Pacers 143-130. The defense was optional tonight, especially in the first half. The Hawks let Indiana score 74 points by halftime. They were led by Jordan Nwora a 6ppg scorer who scored 25 points on the 9/11 shooting in 16 minutes. He did all of this in the second quarter which set a franchise record. Luckily the Hawks played well offensively continuing into the third and tightened things defensively allowing 56 points in the second half.

Trae was good through the first two quarters. 14 points and 3 assists on 6/11 shooting. Offensive and playmaking were pretty typical of Trae. Trae hit a last-second floater to end the second. Trae drew an offensive foul when he shot from the logo and made it but unfortunately, he kicked his feet out. Trae got ejected from the game for throwing the ball hard at the ref while complaining about the previous call. Not a smart move from Trae and I think he earned that. One more tech and Trae is suspended for a game. Trae ended the game with 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists on 6/11 shooting. Although Trae was playing well until this point I have to dock his score a full letter grade because of the ejection. Availability is very important in basketball and Trae made a choice that could have cost the team dearly. C for Trae.

Capela was very good. 17 points and 17 rebounds and 2 assists on 5/5 shooting and ⅞ FT attempts. Capella got his buckets the way you’d typically expect meaning lobs, layups, and putbacks. He dominated the Pacer’s front court and he kept attacking which resulted in his 4 free throw attempts. He made 7 of his 8 attempts!! The defense was very good. He affected shots and got a block to go along with it. He gave the team multiple second chances on offense with 5 offensive rebounds. Not many highlights that were worth writing about but Clint played a pivotal part in tonight’s game and he’s the player of the game tonight. A+ for Clint.

Jc was very good tonight and he led all Hawks scorers tonight. I can’t remember the last time that happened. JC was the second Hawk to score with a drive. He had another bucket next possession off another drive. JC hit a three with under 8 to go. He cooked in the first ending with 11 points on ⅚ shooting. In the second JC had a dunk off a Trae wrap-around pass. JC had a lob to Clint with under 3 minutes to go. JC utilized a match against Halliburton and got a wide-open dunk. He led the Hawks in scoring and ended the half with 15 points and 2 assists on 7/9 shooting. JC continued the momentum in the third by drawing a foul. Unfortunately, he missed a free throw there. He knocked down a three-point out of an out-of-bounds play. The shot has returned for JC, he made 2/4 for the game. With under 8 minutes to go he had a block on Smith. In the fourth JC connected with Clint for a lob. He had another block on Smith with about 3 to go. JC ended the game with 21 points, 2 rebounds (kinda low), and 3 assists on 9/12 shooting. Defensively I thought he was good and ended the game with1 steal and 2 blocks. No turnovers either JC was really great tonight. A-

Dejounte was good but there were also a few negatives. A thing to note is that the Hawks coaching staff flipped the order in which Trae and DJ play. Usually, Trae sits first but today it was the opposite. Murray started the second quarter. Dejounte’s first bucket was off the glass using the crossover. His main mark during the first was his assists getting 7 in 8 minutes! A highlight assist was a lob (rare) to JC who threw down a reverse dunk. He ended the half with 4 points and 9 assists on 2/7 shooting. He basically missed a bunch of midranges in the first two quarters. Murray had a nice sequence after Trae got ejected with a score, a steal, and a fast break score leading to a Pacer timeout. Murray did a lot of damage in the third quarter scoring double digits and going 3/7. He got all of his makes at the rim where all his misses were midrange attempts. Murray also cooked in the fourth going 3/6 making both his attempts at the rim. He went ½ in the midrange and, missed his only three-point attempt in this period. Murray ended the game with 20 points, 2 rebounds, 12 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block on 8/20 shooting. He missed both three-point attempts. I felt his on-ball defense was pretty good here. He had a couple of nice stops on Haliburton. The 12 assists speak for themselves. The efficiency was mid. I hope he can get that part of his game together before the end of the season. I do like that he is driving to the rim more and he got to the line twice tonight. He picked up his play in general ounce Trae got ejected. Overall I’ll give DJ a B- for tonight’s performance.

AJ was electric to start the game ending the first quarter with 11 points on 4/6 shooting including 3 three-pointers in under 8 minutes! AJ hit his first shot from three thanks to a dribble handoff from JC. He hit another couple of possessions after using a fake. AJ had a putback off a Saddiq Bey miss. AJ hit his third three of an OO pass. After that, he didn’t do too much else and ended the game with 11 points 2 rebounds and 3 assists on 4/9 shooting. He did make 3/6 three-pointers. I’ll give him a C+ due to his performance after the 1st quarter.

Seddiq Bey was good. 18 points and 6 rebounds on 7/16 shooting with 3/7 threes. With under 2 in the first Saddiq got his first points off the bench with an and1 layup. In the third with under four, he had a driving layup. I thought he was gonna dunk it but he ended up getting it in the rim with contact. In the fourth Bey bullied his way to the rim for two against Nwora. Offensively he was solid and made his shots. Defensively I thought he wasn’t great. There were a few possessions of him getting cooked by Nwora. However, we know this about Bey when we traded for him so it isn’t a surprise. He’s an offensive-minded player. B+

Okongwu was good. 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists on ⅗ shooting. Not too many highlights tonight. OO had a nice sequence to end the third sniping a pacer pass and getting a bucket on the other end. In the second with under 9, OO had an emphatic block on Duarte. OO helped on the offensive boards getting 4 of them which gave the team second chances on offense. Defensively he made plays happen to get 3 steals and one block. He didn’t foul much tonight and only got 2 which is great as OO is foul-happy. Offensively he was aggressive and was able to get to the line 3 times and made all 6. His passing was underrated as he made a few passes to shooters from the post. Great game for OO. B+

Once again the Hawks are at 0.500, the Pacers had no chance.
