What this team’s ACTUALLY been missing – a Glue Guy

This is the REAL reason why starting Morris has been killing us. Because instead of Morris, we’ve been desperately needing a glue guy around our 2 super stars, center, and point guard. Morris is an okay spot up shooter with a post move or two, but he is NOT a glue guy—and never has been one. All championship teams have a solid glue guy. And guess what, we’ve had one of the best glue guys in the NBA on our roster the whole time (once heralded as the best glue guy in the NBA: [link](https://lastwordonsports.com/basketball/2021/11/13/nicolas-batum-the-nbas-greatest-glue-guy/)). Problem is, his starting role and minutes were being consumed by Morris.

**What is a glue guy?** A glue guy is the guy that connects the superstars and role players, in fact, the entire team, and makes everything come together. He’s the guy that does all of the little things in practice and in games to make your team successful? They are often seen:

* *Making that perfect extra pass*
* *Boxing out on every shot*
* *Playing tough defense*
* *Taking charges*
* *Diving for loose balls*
* *Hitting crucial free throws*
* *Setting solid screens*
* *Keeping the team’s energy positive*

In other words, all the little things involving hustle that Morris never did (he might once or twice every other game but we need it every minute of every game he’s been on the floor). Morris is actually kind of the OPPOSITE of a glue guy. He creates more disconnect in our team by NOT doing the little things needed. He just jump shoots and keeps telling everyone he is this tough guy who doesn’t need anyone’s approval. Well, that’s cool and all but not what this team needs!

A **Glue Guy** doesn’t care about how many points they score or how many minutes they play. All they care about is the team winning and knowing they did everything within their role to contribute to the team’s success; regardless of how large or small that role is.

Batum starting is the move we’ve needed. It’s going to completely change this team, especially once PG13 gets back.

I have to add, we also have another one of the best glue guys who is even capable of starting for Batum and being that main glue guy: Robert Covington. That’s been his reputation his whole career.

[RoCo is that glue guy](https://www.crossingbroad.com/2018/11/robert-covington-was-a-good-player-end-of-story.html)

I am excited. We have two championship-caliber glue guys on our team, and it looks like we are actually gonna start freaking playing them!

    I will kindly ask everyone to refrain from making any “horse glue guy” jokes about Mook.
