We are really going to have to deal with him for another year. If this is the case it’s up to Nico to make some changes to this roster since Kidd thinks he’s a genius and if something is going wrong it’s the players fault and not the fact that he needs to adjust his defensive system to the players we have now. Bald fraud

  2. i_take_shits

TL;DR – We are handcuffed to Kidd and his amazing positivity for the next 5 years

  3. Simple_Wait_7286

I think the only way to overcome J Midd is by building a roster that is too good to fail with him. So Nico has a lot of pressure.

  4. Fire both. Hire actual gm and coach. No more combo deals or friends.

  5. Active_Page_3886

They both should be blacklisted from another NBA job. We are so screwed with Kidd at the helm and dumbass Nico vouching for him all the way

  6. LogicisGone

I really hope and think this is just verbiage. Every coach deals with injuries and rests. He also accurately assesses that we sucked before the trade as well, so he is obviously not totally blind.

The last sentence is the main thing and what’s killing the Mavs right now. I’m glad he gets it. The supporting cast is the main problem and Josh Green went from looking like the 3rd best player in the team to playing like he doesn’t belong in the league.

  8. DoncicsRoadTo200kg

What did you guys expect? Nico and Kidd came in a package, they are together in this, hes not gonna try and get him fired.

  9. MastaMayne

On one hand I think the roster is really THAT bad that blaming Kidd 100% is not fair. We did go to the WCF with him at the helm. It’s a huge ‘if’ but if we can add some wing defenders and an actual center I do think we can get where we want even with Kidd as the coach

  10. Fivefootdirk

Yeah don’t let the kidd stuff bury the lede, Nico just called out the rest of the roster lol

  11. ThisIsTheYear69

If Kyrie resigns I’d run it back unless he’s contingent on Kidd being gone to sign.

This was a rough year, we depleted some key role players to get Kyrie. It is a learning process for them to learn how to play together. We also need some pieces to compliment their play style better.

To me, while Kidd could be better, it’s a personnel problem, not a coaching problem.

Also ‘but we shouldn’t sign Kyrie’

He is the only other star we’ve had on this team other than Dirk and Luka. We have swung and missed on countless superstars for 3 decades now. If Kyrie resigns, you count your blessings because he is our best shot.

  12. Tootsiez

This whole franchise is delusional then. We’ll just all watch it burn down.

  13. synyster-sounds

Ya’ll really expect Nico to flame Kidd in the DMN?

  14. If he says one more time Jason’s done well, I’ll believe him lmao.

  15. monkey-pox

He’s not going to come out and say Kidd is trash, I wouldn’t read too much into it

  16. Sounds like he’s telling us his plan.

Resign Kyrie… Upgrade the rest of the roster.

  17. anon641414

This is the problem when the coach is best friends with the owner and the GM is a relative novice that’s just happy to be here and is also trying to just keep his job. There are no adults in the room.

  18. KBooks66

It looks like we got him for another few seasons. Bye Luka, it was fun. I will miss you

  19. sinik_ko

Strange that all players and leaders in the organization like Kidd

  20. _qazokm123098_

I wouldn’t expect him to trash Kidd but I am worried that he’s making excuses for him. Yeah our team has a big personnel problem, but Kidd has not even come close to maximizing what he has to work with. Even with our current roster, we could easily have at least 5ish more wins with a competent coach

  21. KBooks66

This doesn’t address Kidd biggest issues. (i) Mismanaging and breaking our role players (Green and Wood); (ii) the complete lack of ability to offensive gameplan (other than get the ball to luka); (iii) the inability to draw up a inbounds plays (we constantly can’t get the ball in bounds in the last two minutes; (iv) the complete inability to manage timeouts and challenges competently; (v) the inability to create rotations that make sense; (vi) putting his ego before the team; and (vii) giving up any defensive identity.

Other than that Kidd is a great coach.

  22. Acework23

Nicko trying to hold onto his job aswell protecting the coach cuz he is in the same boat

  23. becausekiwii

If Kidd were to get fired, who would you guys like to be the coach?

  24. TheDeadman95

They really are pivoting to the *”It’s all fine, we were just injured”* excuse smh. I think I’m gonna be sick.

  25. musash10

“I think it’s tough for a coach every day. A lot of times you guys think we’re being cute when you’re like ‘Hey, are they playing today?’ And we’re like ‘Yeah, we don’t know yet.’ You’re like ‘Yeah, they know,’ but we’re looking at each other like, ‘Hey, what do you think?’”

    What is blud waffling about

  26. DannyDeBMO

Guess I need to start preparing to be disappointed

  27. superslurm27

Taking a step back, I’ve realized that having a positive person and people manager like Kidd is a good thing to have at HC, however we need to accept his short comings and hire some tacticians on the staff to be assistants.

Igor has always shown his offensive coaching ability especially when he was overseas and it shown again with his time here last year. We don’t have to fire Kidd to have success but we gotta hire him some help.

  28. infiniteDonutBro

“He’s doing the best he can with the crappy roster I gave him!”

  29. amino110

We have a lot of dumb people in this sub and it shows in the comments lol

  30. Don’t really get how some of y’all are upset over this. Nico isn’t gonna publicly flame the coach and realizes the current roster has a lot of holes that need to be filled and he does not expect his coach to be a miracle worker. He’s gonna attempt to fill those holes and see what Kidd can then do with the roster as we literally made it to the WCF with him as the coach. If he still struggles next season early on I would imagine he would be fired

  31. BobEBoucher

I’m watching The Herd and NBA writer Chris Mannix just did about 5 minutes on the Mavs & wondering why they hired a Nike guy instead of an experienced NBA GM.

  32. Axisofcoolio

As much as I, and many here, hate it, Kidd will be the head coach next year, albeit probably on a shorter leash. Last year WCF run has bought him some time.

That being said, I hope the Powell/Kleber/Hardaway era in Dallas is over this summer. Honestly, everyone not named Luka and Kyrie needs to be shopped. The entire roster needs to be retooled. They need to have a legit big man rotation. No more one dimensional cardio specialists like Bullock. Get some ballers.

  33. Alex_Sander077

For the love of god let’s hope this is just PR. No way an actual sane person would think Kidd has done a good job.

  34. moongaia

I agree, Jason is a great coach for the NBA

  35. Bravesfan8

I know you aren’t supposed to shit on your people openly but if he truly thinks Kidd is doing a “great” job then Nico needs to go as well because clearly he’s blind.

  36. Disastrous_Ad6654

Ummm what???? We are on the outside looking in on the playoffs and he’s not worried???

  37. Landonkey

I’m so grateful for Dirk Nowitzki and his ability to drag this clusterfuck of a franchise to a championship since it’s likely the only one we are going to see for a long time.

  38. “how do you gameplan when you dont know whos available?” is the biggest problem here. the gameplan should depend on who youre playing, not who is available. if it’s dependent on personnel, youre showing your ass. dallas’ identity is luka doncic. that’s why they arent a legitimate team and why they suck. dallas will not be a good team until their gameplan is built for the whole rotation and not just one guy.

  39. We as fans are stuck with Kidd and Harrison for as long as Cuban believes he was in the right to hire them. How dark it has to get for Cuban to get to that point is anyone’s guess.

  40. Putrid_Ad_2256

Nico is really an employee of the New York Knicks….
