[Landon Thomas] Kyrie Irving: “I think their realistic view is that when I came here, that this was going to be a growing process. This was for the long term and this is for something that’s bigger than ourselves and we can’t just be a championship team over night especially me coming here…

CONTINUED: …I’ve wrapped my head around that aspect of it. I’m at peace with it. It doesn’t mean that I’m giving up on this season or any of my teammates are but we know where we realistically are. Our destiny is in other teams hands losing games so we just have to control what we can.”

Sounds positive towards him staying this summer.

Wow this is a big quote. Hopefully he doesn’t pull a Boston lol really hope he stays.

  3. Infinite-Station-524

I like where his head is at.

We need to foster sustainable growth; it’s going to start off rocky, and improve slowly but it’ll be worth it.

I’m gonna need that “Kyrie Irving is re-signing with the Dallas Mavericks ” tweet to drop this July please

  5. dimmadomedimmadome

God, thank you Kyrie you absolute prince.

  6. From that quote? He’s clearly staying and has always thought so since landing in Dallas

  7. Cambocant

We got our two superstars. The ball is in Nico’s court.

  8. Is he gonna stay?! Please man our aspirations next year depend on that and drafting Wembanyama

  9. Lurking10169

It’s almost like we have a professional front office who wouldn’t jeopardize the franchise for a half season tryout?! Who would have thought? He was always re-upping in Dallas.

We need healthy Luka, solid center and thats it then

Keeping Kyrie and adding a top-10 rookie is the best case scenario for us. Draft a big wing to replace Green’s role, Green is ready to replace Doe, Hardy can take over as lead scorer off the bench and Kyrie is a legit offensive nightmare.

We will still lack a legit center, but this trade will work even better than trading Doe to the Jazz for a FRP if we end up keeping our pick in this future draft (to DRAFT a player, not to trade for one FYI).

  12. Wow this quote is serious. You never know with Kyrie so we have to stay prepared mentally but it could very well mean we’re ready to go next year. Get a good center, another defensive wing and a new coach and I really do think we could be dangerous

  13. jennyisafriend

If he stays it’ll be cause of Kidd. Remember that.

  14. Yesboi227

Resign and trade him for jaylen brown in a 3 way team trade. Cause kyrue ain’t going to Boston 😂

  15. tedcruzrileycurry

This is all Jason Kidd’s fault!

If Kyrie had a coach like Brad Stevens, he would be a totally different player and lead his team to a championship.

  16. cautious-opulence

This team will be elite when Luka is not the leading rebounder

  17. Calliesdad20

Because kyrie is a cancer to any team . Let him walk and see what dumb team wants to pay this drama Queen full of abhorrent beliefs .
There won’t be teams lining up to commit huge money / long term to kyrie

  18. Calliesdad20

This isn’t a skill competition, this is a team that being cohesive , drama free is important

  19. Great quote from him. Gg go next. Y’all doomers are funny though.

  20. With these comments, here’s a hypothetical; We resign Kyrie but only if Kidd stays. Who takes that deal?

  21. Jack_Bryant

This is not something I anticipated happening, but I’ve pretty much agreed with everything Kyrie has said since joining the team. I hope he reups with us.

  22. Powpowpowowowow

As weird as this sounds, this makes me much happier. Feeling like Kyrie will stay long term I mean shit. That makes our window WIDE OPEN. Free agency? Who the fuck wouldn’t want to come play with Luka and Kyrie? That is like, basketball heaven. Kyrie was the unknown and if he stays around we will fill the glaring holes, we have young talent, and we will compete for the next 3-5 years easy.

  23. OpeningStuff23

Kyrie said he wanted to stay long term on the Cavs, Celtics and Nets lol. Nothing he says has any merit.

  24. labarbatron

I love Kai and I really hope he stays and then we overhaul the rest of the roster

  25. Legal_Math4070

Celtics fan here. I am so sorry you have to deal with Kyrie. You all deserve better

  26. He definitely taking max contract and staying. What’s not to love?

  27. Andrew0409

Oh no. The last few teams he said he wanted to stay at….
