I think he’s gonna look, but if we make him feel wanted and present a cogent plan for how next season is better, he’ll sign for the max.

I don’t see any way Cuban cheaps out and let’s him walk after he got lambasted for Brunson and Nash.

  2. ron_burgundy_69

He’s going to shock the world and sign with the flint michigan tropics

  3. mjackson4672

Sign and trade and the Mavs get Ayton in return. Just a random guess.

  4. DoncicsRoadTo200kg

I mean he should, its the smart thing to do if you are the player.

  5. Butterfly_Scape

someone’s gonna pull a knicks and use the pistons as a cap space farm

  6. Active_Page_3886

He will be back. Mavs will offer him a max. I don’t see how any team with cap space even compares to what Nico and Cuban will offer.

  7. 2000Soulja

Hoping it’s a short term deal. 2-3 Years

  8. oldeworld13

He should leave and play for a contender

  9. UseAffectionate1992

A lot of y’all seem overly optimistic that he’s gonna stay. I get that we can offer him the most money, but Kai is the type of dude who wants to win more than he wants money, and based on how things have gone since we got him, I’d say there is a very high chance that he leaves.

  10. Kball4177

I expect the Mavs to make him a max offer because that’s the only non tanking path forward…but I also won’t be surprised if we get another “Kyrie didn’t want to even hear our offer” narrative from the front office when Mark gets too skittish about offering him the max and low balls him.

  11. jyanyanyanyan

To quote Tim Robinson, I Don’t Know What Any Of This Shit Is And I’m Fucking Scared

  12. I think he stays. But… I do think teams like Miami, the Clippers and Suns could be interested depending on what they do in the playoffs. Obviously those teams would have to do a S&T.

  13. Unless he goes without anything im ok with either signing him or trading him. Mavs should look at teams like Bulls, Timberwolves, Toronto, Heat etc. for trading Kyrie btw. Teams who want to do something rn.

  14. KBooks66

Depends how much he values money, and whether he values it over working for competent organization.

  15. Youngrepboi

Mavs doesn’t need to give the max. Not many teams have cap space for 23/24 and the ones that does, doesn’t really need a guard for 40+ million. We can actually a good position to low ball a little. Brunson was able because Knicks moved heaven and earth for cap space. I don’t see any of those teams doing the same for Kai.

  16. Low-Selection7164

How do the Mavs usually fare during free agency might hold a clue

  17. Nurokatt

I’ll preface my opinion by saying I was worried Kyrie would bring the same chaos here as he has to other teams, but my opinion has changed in recent weeks by seeing how he interacts with the players on both sides, as well as how he occasionally handles the local media. I feel like he’ll sign with the Mavs, because he seems happy here. On all those other teams, big-market or not, he played as the complementary player to someone else, whereas here he gets to be the veteran leader for a change. Every other fanbase is waiting for him to leave, or implode here the same as everywhere else, but I’m just not getting that vibe right now, so hopefully he stays and gets to polish his legacy.

So, the article this is from talked about something else Mavs-related that piqued more of my interest than the Kyrie bit.

“Dallas assistant coach Jared Dudley will be the head coach of the Mavs’ summer l`eague team this offseason, league sources told Bleacher Report.”

Dudley is explicitly a Kidd guy, right? I imagine new coaches generally like to bring in their own people. Is it normal for assistants to be retained while the coach gets fired? Cause if not, that doesn’t bode well for our hopes about Kidd

  19. Infamous-Band7927

You don’t want this man on multi year deal

  20. ricosabre

    He’s going to the Lakers.

To be clear: this will be good for the Mavs.

  21. ZuuRocks

I don’t trust this FO to make the correct call.

  22. Calliesdad20

Yup the huge list of teams that want to sign kyrie lmao

  23. Calliesdad20

Hen he will, proceed to blow up the franchise with his stupid beliefs, drama and luka will demand out,
    Fun times

  24. jaymanw_88

We are in too deep to not try to resign him. If we lose kai we will be screwed because we don’t have enough cap space to sign a difference maker. But I am so disappointed in all of the Mavs acquisitions this year. Wood is a bust and kai and Luka cant guard JV women’s team.

  25. PorousSurface

Sign em. He’s not the teams issue right now.

  26. bomonty18

I’m just not sure why he would stay. Money is an obvious factor, but we don’t really have a chance to win a title with current roster. I think mavs are in a tough spot and it’s gonna tank a miracle to get us out of it

  27. rainbowclownpenis69

    Let him walk.

We need to look into Grant and Poeltl instead. Shore up the inside with better defense and efficiency. Wood and Powell can walk, too. If you wanna open up the wallet, see if you can convince Russell to come and be a compliment to Luka.

I think Kyrie is a great player and would love to see him in Dallas, but I know he can be flippant. This team needs an actual presence on the inside and much tougher defense. There are so many games that this offensive juggernaut just cannot finish because of poor defense down the stretch. Would be really cool in Bertans didn’t play like ass for the huge salary he is getting, too.

  28. souttous

I think Cuban caves and gives him the full 4 year max

  29. sub_to_Anto_Y_on_YT

Tbf, i dont think hes the problem to the latest losses..

  30. Wavepops

mavs offer him contract he doesnt like, makes it seem like hes going to LA, that possibility gets close, mavs gives him full extension

  31. Aggressive_Whole6059

im a lakers fan coming in peace.
i see a lot of comments hating on cuban. Why?
we always heard that he is one of the best owners in sports. im just curious what did he do that mavs fans have turned on him?
Also i see comments about him not paying nash. I was a teenager back then, but i thought nash was traded or something. Did nash leave cause of cuban?

  32. sexlyfe_lol

I feel like Kyrie is getting really close to changing his name to something like Mustafar Mohammed

  33. fakejohnmayer23

The mavs are a team known for not being able to resign its own players and kyrie is a player who is known for leaving

  34. Its a good signing. Give some time and let them gel before the season starts. Put some better defensive players around. You don’t want him? Your loss.
