Correlation is not causation. Kyrie isn’t the cause of their losing because he shows effort on defense and pretty much shows up every time on offense.
The problem is that Mavs just aren’t a good team and Luka has been in a slump because of personal reasons.

They were the 6th seed when Kyrie played his 1st game in Dallas. 28-26. Kyrie won the first 2 games by himself. They started losing once Luka came back

Bro this is why I hate sports media. When Kyrie got traded to the Mavericks what did everybody say? It’s going to be an influx of offense but they were going to have problems with defense that will need to be addressed in the offseason. Now that things predictably went exactly how everyone knew they would all hell breaks loose.

Media knows the Mavs are tanking to secure their top ten protected draft pick this summer. There’s nothing wrong with Luka or Kyrie. The front office made Kidd tank because they would not have a draft pick for several years. They’re sacrificing this year to get a pick. Media knows it, but it’s more interesting to go with the BS fake news storyline that Luka and Kyrie are impossible to play with than it is to discuss the legality and ethics of tanking. That’s the real story.
The Brooklyn was 19th in the league in Defensive Rating last season under Nash. They are currently 16th in the league. Not exactly dramatic improvement. And supposedly, they got better with loss of Harden and the addition of Ben Simmons.

Kyrie can score but he really is worthless defensively. Also his game stifles other players, especially one who is just like him.

And only 10 out of the 30 NBA teams will be eliminated from playoff contention when the regular season ends. That means you have a better chance of making the playoffs than missing them and the Mavs are likely gonna miss them.

This discussion on defense highlight why MJ is the GOAT. He came from an era where players took pride in defense. Players took it personal if you came in to their paint and scored or an grabbed an offensive rebound. That was like breaking into a man's house. Today it's so easy to score because guys don't care about defense. The analytics say, let the guy score, run down the floor as fast as possible and let a 3 fly. The lane is wide open for easy dunks

Let’s be clear. The Warriors were up 3-1 in that series winning each game by an average of 28pts. Let that sync in. Warriors were destroying them. Then 3 things happened. Bogut got injured and was lost for games 5,6,7. Draymond got suspended, and Iggy’s back got hurt. Those were our best defenders and that turned the series. A healthy Warriors team closes them out easily 4-1
