  18. jakfrist

Do you know what they call the team that ends every postseason series just over .500?

    No.

    Seriously.

    I’m asking.

What do they call winning basketball teams?

  19. sparlivdor365

Biggest indictment on Nate and other staff not developing players is Quin talking about how the players are learning how to space the floor and play in space. Inexcusable in this era for coaches not to be all about space

  20. Renverseur

I’m done with this team. I’m so tired of winning

    /s

  21. TheDonGilly

The mid gods approached me last night. They told me, in order to be the most mid of all time, we would win today. Then, we would lose the next two in order to finish 41-41, 15-15 against the West, 26-26 against the East, and 8-8 in the division.

  22. ahend1999

it will be time for hawks to face their demons in the play in

  23. blingera

so it looks like our best case scenario is playing Boston in the first round which sucks but i really would rather not play 2 play-in games again

  24. chillblackguyy

WE ARE BACK TO BEING THE ATLANTA HAWKS 🥹

  25. sanithna

    #No Mo Mid in GA
^(but I am a little sad that we broke the streak)

Still optimistic that we can have JC long term and have him be productive on a more consistent basis. Praying Quin works some magic this offeason to make this squad click!

  27. Your Atlanta HaWWWks beat the Washington Wizards 134-116 breaking the .500 curse and ending a historic NBA run with 33 games within .500 the previous record being 24. We have finally gotten a winning streak with three in a row plus, Trae and DJM had a very good game together.

Trae had a nice whip-around pass to JC who buried a three. Trae had a nice floater to start the second. This particular possession had a lot of ball movement. Trae drew a foul off a three-point shot which drew a review from the opposing coaching staff. Trae had 13 points and 8 assists by halftime. The magic of Trae tonight was his passing. He ended with 25 points, 2 rebounds, and 16 assists on 4/10 shooting. Not many many highlights because he only made 4 shots and his passing is embedded in other players’ reviews. He did most of his damage at the free throw line making 16 of 18 shots!!! The passing speaks for itself and he was able to go in his back with fancy angles, behind-the-back passes, and lobs. The Hawks actually helped Trae get his assist number because they shot an efficient 13/30 from distance. I’ll give Trae an A tonight.

Aaron was serviceable getting time with Bogi out. He ended with 8 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals in 21 minutes. He shot ⅔ all his made shots from distance. Arron had a nice steal in the first which led to a Murray three. He drained a three with about 3 minutes left. To start the 4th Arron had a deep three in between the 3pt and the logo. With under 8 left Arron had a nice poke away and it nearly resulted in a steal. He was fine out there and helped the team out. B for Aaron.

Jalen followed up yesterday’s performance with another tour de force. Jalen started strong bumping his defender off him and getting a shot as soon as he came in the game. With a minute left, he got a lob from Trae. With under 20 seconds, he got a steal and went all the way for a dunk. The same thing happened at to start of the second quarter. With 9 minutes in the second, he drove from the corner for a finger roll that got a foul call. With around 7 he put his body in his defender and hit a floater. On the next possession, he went to the post, backing down his defender, and was able to create a shot but this missed. With about 5 in the second, he threw a lob to Clint. At the half, he had the same stat line as Murray with 11 points and 5 rebounds on ⅝ shooting. With under two in the third, he hit a long two from a Trae behind the back. To start the 4th Jalen was able to draw another foul in transition. With under 4 Jalen brought the ball up and threw a lob to Bey. Jalen ended with 16 points (tied career high), 8 rebounds, and 2 assists in 23 minutes. He shot 7/11 fg including 0/2 from three. I’m surprised he didn’t record a steal or block because he looked pretty good on the defensive end. I loved how the team especially Dejounte keep giving him the ball to do work. I also love that both Trae and DJ are letting him bring the ball up more. I also liked that Trae took advantage of his athleticism and threw him a couple of lobs. I think Coach Quin has done excellent in utilizing JJ to his strengths and that’s what we need from a head coach. A+ for JJ

AJ Griffin went hot from three. 16 points and 3 assists shooting 6/9 and 4/6 from three. He hit his first three of an OO offensive rebound. He hit his second with under 4 in the first. He hit his third three with a minute left in the third. He hit another floater in the last possession of the third. AJ hit his fourth three after getting an offensive rebound off a Trae miss. I don’t think it was a spectacular performance, he wasn’t going deep in his bag. He hit his shots and that’s what we need! B+ for AJ.

OO was mediocre tonight, mainly on offense. 6 points and 6 rebounds on 2/8 shooting in 22 minutes. In the second OO attempted a three that air-balled. I’m happy that Quin is still letting him shoot that with confidence. As a passer, he was good with 3 assists. Defensively he was his usual self with 2 steals and 1 block. C to C+ for OO tonight. Edit: I forgot to mention the foul trouble. He got pulled early into the fourth after he got his fifth foul.

Dejounte had a nice sequence with under 5 minutes in the second passing to Clint for a dunk. Then the next offensive possession went in for a layup off the glass. With under 2 minutes, he got a steal which led to a Trae and JC lob. To end the second he drew a foul and on the next possession, he made a midrange shot. Murray ended with 11 points and 5 rebounds on 4/6 shooting. After he went 4/7 scoring 8 points. He had three layups, it’s nice to see him attack the rim instead of going for mid-range shots. DJM ended with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals on 8/12 shooting and ⅓ from three. The biggest issue tonight was the turnovers as he had 5. That said I’m not expecting much from him assist-wise TONIGHT as Trae had 16. A solid and efficient game B+

Capela was good only playing 15 minutes tonight. He ended with 9 points and 8 rebounds on ⅗ shooting. With under 4 in the second Capela blew an easy dunk. It was open and point blank. He immediately fouled whoever rebounded the miss on the Wizard. He made that up a couple of possessions later drawing a foul on a body-contouring layup. He also had an interesting play where he was able to catch a wrap-around pass while he was already in the air contesting the shot. He was solid defensively and got 1 steal and 3 blocks. He made 3/4 FT which is above average for CC. A- when you consider what he did in 15 minutes.

Bey was fine. 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist and steal 4/9 shooting including ⅖ from 3. There was an interesting sequence to start the third where Clint got blocked by Gafford on a fast break. The shot landed perfectly on Bey’s hand for a wide-open dunk. Bey had a three with 3 minutes lift fourth that rolled in. B-

JC was great offensively with 23 points and 3 rebounds on 6/8 shooting including ¾ from three. JC hit his second three in the third quarter with 7 minutes left. After he had an amazing play grabbing a defected pass that the Wizards nearly picked off. He took one dribble and went for a reverse dunk. On the next possession, he hit his third three on the night. With 5 and a half left, JC had a drive and dump off to OO who drew a foul. With 7 minutes in the fourth, he caught a pass from Trae and was able to draw a foul. He was aggressive and got to the free-throw line making a perfect 8/8. I’m happy the shooting and free throw shooting has rebounded. I hope he can continue this in the play-in/ playoffs. The only concern I have is the rebounding. A- for JC

We play the 76ers on Friday. It should be a fun one. I’ll see yall then.
