I feel like this sub still fundamentally doesn’t understand how we lost Brunson. After the 2021 season (where Brunson was benched by Rick during the playoffs because of his poor play) we didn’t offer him a big contract and instead wanted to see how he progressed that season , which was their mistake. By the time the 2022 playoffs came around Mavs were ready to give him the bag/match any offer but Brunson/his team had already decided on the Knicks at that point. Brunson left. Cool. Who wouldn’t leave in his position? His dad is an assistant coach coach for NY, NY gave him a chance to be the lead ball handler and not be second fiddle to the most ball dominant guy in the league, and NY has shown a willingness to build around him (even bringing in his old teammate in Hart).
