I was watching one of the latest episodes of Locked on Grizzlies, and had came across a very ‘interesting’ post. I wanted to get your opinion on this. Is this a valid take, or is he just over exaggerating via frustration?

I think there are some valid comments in the opinion about Jenkins regarding prior years. What I disagree with is the insinuation that Jenkins can’t learn from his mistakes and become a better coach with experience. I’ve already noticed dramatic changes in some of his coaching decisions this year.

I don’t think any of this is necessarily wrong but it reeks of hindsight. Jenkins is overall a great coach imo but he’s still learning, just like the team. If Ja had made that last layup in game 1 against the Warriors then I’m sure we wouldn’t have heard any complaints.
That poster seemed to have blocked the entire Minnesota series from his memory, too lol. Despite being the higher seed we were the ones who had to adjust, and Jenkins did so by benching Adams and leaning very heavily on BC/X as the non-Jaren big men. We do not win that series without the adjustments Jenkins made.
TLDR; Jenkins ain’t perfect but he’s a damn good coach and it’s far too early to call his job into any sort of jeopardy.

Jenkins’ main success has been in developing young players. I don’t think he is the best Xs and Os guy but I think that is much less important in the NBA. Phil Jackson was famously hands off during the games and did most of his coaching outside of the game. Taylor has done a great job developing young talent and building a team identity, which is honestly what we need most considering the age of our team.

Someone is doing a little revisionist history here with the Portland game and the Jazz series. Neither of these are entirely accurate.
Jenkins showed last year he is able to make the correct adjustments taking Adams out of the Wolves series. It was not perfect the entire playoffs but he can make the right calls. Idk who OP is but their opinion only matters as much as it is their opinion.

I’d be more likely to be convinced if it identified some kind of recurring, specific problem that I’d expect to persist. Instead it just lists a few specific decisions that the commenter suggests were bad. But even if the critique of each is right, so what? You know who’s made a lot of bad decisions? NBA Champion Mike Budenholzer. Hell, Gregg Popovich made a bad lineup decision that literally swung the NBA championship.
Jenkins has been a consistently successful coach. He’s made bad decisions, but that’s true of anyone. I don’t see anything that would suggest he can’t win a chip.
