Kevin Knox has better odds of becoming a consistent contributor to a winning team than Cam Reddish.

Not necessarily a real opinion I hold, but the thought crossed my mind the other day. Clyde’s number should be un-retired for the way he has abandoned and ignored this franchise since going to Houston.

We talk about the Lakers too much like we’re the Celtics. But I’ll admit, I was way too young to witness the pain of the 2000 series.

Draft our 2023 lottery pick instead of trading it.

Blazers should tank next year for the top pick.

I don’t think Portland is a very good place to develop young talent and Sharpe could reach higher potential playing on a team that’s not serving two masters

Stop trying to thread the needle between rebuilding and going all in: pick one and stick with it.

Not changing my answer from last time—dame wouldn’t have let lebron come back from 3-1

Objectively CJ is higher on the list of All time Blazers than Brandon Roy even if Roy was a better player

Becky Hammon would have taken the Blazers to the playoffs and had fewer injuries while doing it

If we trade Dame and then drafted Wembenyama and he was a superstar on day 1, lead us to a championship and FMVP in year 3 and then followed that up with winning MVP the following year everyone would agree that he’s the franchise GOAT.
For some reason this logic doesn’t apply to Bill Walton though.

It’s okay to strive for a consistent winning team, good culture and being a good presence in the local community.
We don’t have tear everything down if we don’t see a path to a championship. Nurk, Dame, CJ all have positive impact on the City of Portland and that matters.
Yes, it’s important to have competitive teams. The goal can be to get better while maintaining flexibility, not just mortgaging the future to win now. If we come up short of a championship, that’s actually OK.
We can develop young guys AND we can try and win with Dame.
HegemonNYC
Dame has a far better chance of winning a ship in the next 3 years if we trade him. We have a far better chance of contending in 3-6 years if we trade him. Keeping him through retirement feels nice but is bad for both parties.

I want too keep nurkic and Anfernee.
Reasoning: There is no comparable center available too replace Nurkic in the market , it’s annoying hearing other fans saying they would be fine letting him go for nothing. Anfernee and Dame can work well together. Especially as Anfernee becomes comfortable running the offense and Dame playing off ball more. His defense got remarkably better this year and I suspect it will improve next year. My belief in our overall defense being bad even though we had and do have some solid defensive players ( Grant, Thybul , Nurkic, etc..) is coaching related.
Dangboy999
Trade Dame he is getting old and his value will only plummet we have to cash in on him and build for the future. It’s best for both parties.
Gritty_gutty
If we want to win a championship in the next 10 years, we need to trade Dame.

I said before the season the blazers should trade dame because we had zero realistic path to the title and I would prefer restarting and getting to see dame play on an actual contender.

They need to trade Damian Lillard away and give the man a chance at competing for a championship. Then they can actually start a rebuild.
They’re wasting this mans career away and it’s really sad to see.

Great post! Love the question.
Here’s some off the top of my head:
1. Gotta trade Dame for his sake *and* ours 2. Sharpe is not off limits from being traded 3. Ant will improve on defense, just give him time 4. Jody loves this team as much or more than the ‘Hawks and is invested long-term in Rip City 5. Billups can’t be replaced next season because all of the players love him, esp. Grant 6. Nurk’s gonna have a breakout season coming up and finally live up to the hype as Jokic Jr. 7. Acquiring Luka would be a great fit to lift us from mediocrity 8. Joe Cronin absolutely knows what he’s doing 9. Danny Marang absolutely knows what he’s talking about 10. Wemby can and has walked on water, cured incurable diseases, and will never be injured

Two of mine; Nurk isn’t nearly as bad as people make him out to be and Sharpe shouldn’t be considered untouchable.

Not inflammatory: Our culture is broken and has been for a decade.
Inflammatory: It’s because of the one person in the entire Blazers organization that has held the same job for the last 10 years…….
