Raptor teams lead by Nick Nurse always seem to exceed expectations during the playoffs. Despite how poorly this team played this season, do you see them elevating their game in the playoffs?

Raptors teams in the playoffs lead by Nick Nurse have exceeded expectations exactly once.

Which teams? 2019 the one with kawhi?

    We finished 53-19 in 2020

    48 wins last year

Tf is with these fake narratives

  3. UjiriWatcher

we got slapped 3 out of the 4 games last playoffs

  4. SiakamsWager

More likely they’ll elevate their lottery odds

  5. Nurse led teams have had disappointing exits 2/3 times he’s been head coach

We exceeded expectations in the playoffs in 2019. In 2020 we exceeded expectations in the regular season, but because of that expectations in the playoffs were higher and we failed to meet them.

In 2022 we failed to meet expectations in the playoffs and regular season.

Our expectations are win one play-in game. I would say winning 2 for the 8 seed would be exceeding expectations.

But we always lose the first game šŸ˜¬

Didnā€™t we lose in the first round last year

I would actually argue the opposite is true. Nurse’s real success was the post-championship teams, 2019-2020 and last season in particular. Those teams greatly exceeded expectations in the regular season and then performed about as-expected in the playoffs.

Obviously he coached a championship team, so he deserves tremendous credit for that. He got an all-time playoff performance from Kawhi and we still came extremely close to losing that Philly series.

The only thing Nick Nurse brought to Toronto was a Box and 1 and a few other defensive schemes I learned in high school.

Unless every player on this team magically learns to shoot and score.. probably not.

  12. 6ix_Side_Up

Nah (unfortunately, but its for the best)

  13. Blu_Razz

I could see the boys elevating their game in the play-in, maybe; but Im not about to get my hopes up from there.

These guys are especially checked out. It’s more likely they get blown out every game and if lucky make it a 4-1 series.

  15. BurzyGuerrero

IF they win the play-in and get into the playoffs Nick Nurse is best at making adjustments over a long series but the question remains will the players buy into what he’s selling.

But winning a series against a 1-2 seed would go a LONG WAY in making the players buy in.

I still say Bucks/Celtics in 6 or less.

  16. BurzyGuerrero

All we gotta do is get up 1-0 THEN be the .500 basketball club we all love from there, then do that 3x.

  17. Ssstanimal

No the team clearly isnā€™t following his lead

  18. This is blatant misinformation, and I won’t stand for it

Not this time. Happy to be wrong but it feels like.tjis season has already been mailed in.

If we win the play-in championships, do Raptors lose the 1% chance @ Wemby?

  21. JustAnotherMark604

Well going down 3-0 and having to play catch up just to get blown out in the second half of Game 6 last year wasn’t exactly what I envisioned so I guess my expectations were exceeded in that sense. Was hoping to upset the 76ers and truly believed we would.

Bubble Siakam was also a huge bummer. I legitimately thought they were Finals bound. Fuck Covid.

The last time the Raptors exceeded my expectations during the playoffs was when they tied the series 2-2 against the Cavs in the ECF. I thought we’d still get bounced in the first round in spite of a 50 win season

  22. definitelynotagay

    Unfortunately I don’t believe it.

Fred has yet to consistently show up post championship, and the bubble showed us we can’t rely on transition.

Essentially, if you can’t run a half court offense you can’t win a series.

With single games you can get lucky, but if we somehow make it out of the play in, we are getting our asses handed to us.

I’ll be watching the Jays Tigers. Stopped watching Raps months ago and will not watch until they move on from this FVV and Siakim nonsense. It’s like watching a movie without a plot. Pick a direction ffs.

Lol no itā€™s done, this team needs a reset. The current configuration has run its course for the most part it seems. The front office has a lot of work to do.

I have doubts about your initial premise.
