The good news is that we don’t need to be perfect in these measures, we just need to be better than the team’s in front of us. In most of them, I believe we are. Tatum’s reliance on free throws to be efficient and the turnovers may be our biggest weaknesses in terms of title contention. I think the addition of Brogdon mitigates both to some extent. Having that 3rd guy that can create his own shot, (honestly White has evolved into that some too), and even the slight improvements in taking care of the ball will alleviate what can hold us back.

I’d like to see how the Bucks rank out in these areas because my guess is that they will be our biggest road block.

    Great article, Spooney.

    > The proverbial Snorlax blocking our path to a championship. I have flashbacks to Tatum and Brown driving right into Draymond Green’s help as three Warriors swipe down on the ball and sprint the other direction.

lol. A stat I remember seeing [from John Schuhmann](https://www.nba.com/news/film-study-malcolm-brogdon-boston-celtics) writing about the impact of Brogdon in the preseason was that in the finals the Celtics had the third worst turnover rate in a playoff series of any team in the last 5 years. Barf. Hopefully Brogdon and more comfortable Derrick can help, but I think it’ll mostly come down to Tatum and Brown. But if Brogdon does solve the turnover woes I want “pokeflute” to be one of his basketball reference nicknames.

On the plus side, I think turnovers only really become an issue against good, switchable defenses that force Tatum/Brown to attack good defensive players. Just about every potential opponent has a soft underbelly of weak defenders. I don’t think there’s a team as good defensively as last year’s Warriors except maybe Golden State themselves if Wiggins comes back and Kuminga can stay on the court

I know a little late for your writeup, but if you’re interested The Score does an “Anatomy of a Champion” most years where they break down which teams fit the trends of previous winners.

I don’t think they’ve done one for this year but here’s:

[2021 – They landed on the Suns (made finals) and Jazz (lol). The Bucks were discounted for too few wins.](https://www.thescore.com/nba/news/2168283)

[2022 – Phoenix again made the cut. Boston fell short with overall and home records. Although they had GSW and Miami as outside chances.](https://www.thescore.com/nba/news/2338119)
