I was a little turned off with him when he started the scholarships that target only 2 races. We don't do that here in Canada. And if it was sincere, he would have educated himself that one of those races get free university in Canada. And the other is equal to everyone else. We all get subsidized uni here. It's honestly quite obvious to me. Vanvleet is an undersized 2 guard that is at his best in catch and shoot and off-ball hand-off or screening actions. Sure, he's developed his handle to the point he can slash, but he doesn't have that pure drive and kick instinct that Lowry carried our offense with. All love to Vanvleet, but the man is being asked to do something he ain't built for. I think he'll come back to us for less than he's asking when he realizes no one out there wants him for that money. Orlando is already seeing Fultz is a better point for them, and they might fuck around and get Scoot too. The biggest problem with Vanvleet is that he's a scoring 2 guard who you can't trust to hit the buzzer beater out of the timeout or defend the other team's #1 option for an extended period of time so he's a fundamentally inefficient player.
