No one from Atlanta Hawks’ ownership or the front office has told Trae Young he could be traded, but “stuff like that comes out all the time,” he told The Athletic on Tuesday.
“It could be false, could be true, you never know,” Young said following the Hawks’ shootaround in Miami, where they will play the Miami Heat on Tuesday in an Eastern Conference Play-In game. Young said his focus is on beating Miami and advancing to the playoffs for the third consecutive season, and second via the Play-In.
When asked by The Athletic if these Play-In games felt bigger, as though they could affect Young’s fate with the Hawks, he said: “It’s hard – you can’t look at it. “Especially as the player in the moment, you can’t look at what’s gonna come on next year,” Young said. “After the game, if the game doesn’t go your way tonight, what’s gonna happen? Like, you can’t focus on things like that. That messes up your head and then you’re not ready to play so, me, I’m not worried about that. I’m gonna let my game play. After the season, whatever happens, happens. I mean, I’m focused on the next task at hand. I can’t worry about the outside noise or whatever fake stories come out, or what’s true, whatever.”

I don’t appreciate all of the negative attention Trae is receiving. He has done absolutely nothing to warrant this public censure.
People don’t keep that same energy for the overweight “All-NBA”er out in Dallas who wasn’t able to make the play in with another all NBA guard in a weaker conference.

I feel bad for Trae and the rest of the guys man. It’s nasty to let that Ringer story go up yesterday as soon as the regular season ended and a day before the play-in tournament. Whether it’s true or not, I’m sick of this organization leaking shit to reporters because it does nothing but bring down team morale. It’s been going on all year and it’s honestly toxic af. Who leaks rumors like “yeah the front office has the green light to trade anyone including Trae Young” a day before the most important game of the season?

Asking if a one game series can control his fate and disregard everything else he’s done for the team is a fucking insane and stupid question

Some of you are going to have to make up your mind. Do you or do you not want media coverage? The hawks have been a dumpster fire the last year. They get destroyed by Miami. Trae takes a chartered plane by himself. Then he gives up in the series clincher topped off by him sitting off to the side ala Lloyd style.
Then the hawks lost their best shooting coach and guess what happens? Their three point shooting with the players they have goes south. Then multiple execs are gone during the year including their prominent Pres of Basketball Operations.
They beg their coach to stay on only to fire him with about 20 games left in the season and then in an unprecedented move brought that coach in without his own guys.
And they are matched up against the same team that exposed Trae and was the catalyst for their trade for Murray. Of course the media is going to have a field day about this. This is a great test for the team. Let’s see if they can turn a new leaf and be mentally tough for once.

Hawks front office needs to step in and clarify what it is and what it isn’t.
You’re franchise star shouldn’t be up in the air about their position.

Media is determined to keep the Hawks in drama. Couldn’t let Dallas and fatboy get all the negative attention
