None of these statements reject the idea that Nurse could be fired today; they just express that both GM and coach want to win and are honest with each other.

This doesn’t mean much. Many other things don’t mean much. It would be diligent for him to interview even if for nothing but leverage. He may need a change of scenery and he has ties here and a favorable slate to work off of with the young talent, cap space, urgency by front office, free agency, and willingness to trade to align with strategy.
