FINALLY! My man has deserved a shot for a long time now. Glad he’s at least getting a chance.

COACH DOING THE BIG BALLS DANCE AS WE WIN THE TITLE IS THE WAVE

The first alien HC. I love diversity hires

I don’t hate it. Though I will admit part of me is apprehensive at hiring a first time head coach after seeing how Silas turned out. However, this dude does have the respect of a lot of players around the league (see video from summer of him working out with Harden and Maxey) and is a Rockets legend. I actually wanted him to get the job last time around too

I wouldn’t go with another first time coach, so I’m not interested.

Those that are interested, are there other reasons other than nostalgia that are unbeknownst to me?

Hopefully this is just due diligence and nothing more. We need a coach with experience.

I think he probably takes over for the Sixers when Doc inevitably gets fired

I posted this idea back in February. I think like the Demeco Ryans hire by the Texans, this hiring would go a long way with optics of the team. Still would rather have Nurse or Udoka, but I wouldn’t be mad at it.

Sam has said multiple times that he wants to coach a young team and build the culture. He’s on the short list of my favorite assistants we’ve had with MDA, Monty Williams and Ime

    Edit: and Dave Joerger

Love Sam. I just don’t want another first time HC after the Silas debacle. I can see him coming on as an assistant though, especially if Harden comes back.

I don’t hate it? He’s been around for a long long time and obviously the pedigree here in houston already.
As far as being the right coach for THIS team? I don’t know.

Then again, how is this any different from the Demeco Ryans situation with the Texans.

Homegrown players, assistant head coach/coordinator experience, franchise looking to win back the fans and contend again…
