If the mavs tanking gets them 1 round further next year than they would have, and they get swept in that round (so 2 extra home games) Cuban will more than make that money back. He may more than make it up in regular season if the rookie is a all rookie team level guy.
If the NBA wants to discourage this they need to hurt them with taking draft picks away or something (I know that might seem extreme), but how else do you discourage this kind of thing? They don’t care about $750k.
Just move the pick out of the lottery and put it behind all the 1st round eliminated teams as well
