[Clark] Zion was never medically cleared to play after he injured his hamstring. For anyone who watched closely, it was clear he was out of shape. Asked about Zion’s availability issues, David Griffin said, “I think a big part is on him.”

CJ said as much. The guy needs to learn that just because he’s injured and can’t play basketball doesn’t mean he can’t keep himself in shape.
Zion, just request a trade so we can all move on.
yeah don’t think Zion is going to be a lifer here anymore
this looks like it’s headed down a very negative path
Griffin is such a fucking idiot what is this dude thinking
Edit: Clark is lying for clicks so I take it back, relieved DG didn’t actually paint it how Clark makes it out to seem
Jesus Christ. Who posted this? It’s such quotation out of context, it’s unreal. Listen to the full interview.
I’ve been a long time lurker on this sub and just created this account to say this
This isn’t what DG said just an over exaggerated headline to stir the pot
It’s like y’all hear what y’all wanted to hear David G said for weeks Zion wasn’t cleared, was doing everything he could to get back out there, Ideally he’d ramp up during the first round, etc but y’all would rather let the national narrative be your source knowing for years that they’ll do anything to make sure someone worth so much money and potential never stays with a small market. Christian Clark took one sentence and painted his own pov David Griffin went into more detail in that 30 minute interview none of which blamed Z outside of not explaining the physically fine comment.
Be better has fan’s support the ones who are here and for the love of god stop letting a headline be your source especially if you don’t follow everything the team is doing. Rooting for you Z get back healthy.
I mean, Griff isn’t wrong but it seems like a weird choice to say this publicly. Especially since the media loves pushing the narrative that Zion hates being a pelican.
Zion is an absolute superstar when he’s healthy, we all saw it this season.
Zion is only really a problem when he’s injured, because he doesn’t know how to cope. He’s spoken before about his mental health and how he was in a really dark place last season. TSpoon was there for him and really supported him through that.
Am I saying that it’s TSpoon’s job to look after Zion’s mental health and be a team mom? No. But if hiring somebody to support Zion and be a cheerleader/ supervisor would help him to deal with some of those off court issues, I would be okay with that.
I watched the Griff interview and this headline makes it seem like he was throwing Zion under the bus which he absolutely was not.
This is way out of context. I expect this from r/nba but Pels12 should now better.
This dude needs to play simple as that. No passive aggressive in between the lines bs. You need to play. You don’t get a rookie max extension and sit games cause “I’m not myself”. A piece of advice to you buddy the world doesn’t work like that. If im the pelicans im telling Zion directly and his step father directly your butt better be out there next season playing as hard as you and being available every game next season period end of story and if you don’t like that we can gladly come to the resolution of getting you off this team so you can be someone else’s headache.
I’m not trying to be intrusive but even if it was taken out of context is this not partially true? Zion needs to take better care of himself or this will be him every season
People have commented it already but there’s a lot of context missing from what was said in the interview to what is this headline (what else is new).
